27.01.2026 02:33 β π 55 π 16 π¬ 1 π 0Minor update to Rosie's backstory. Now, she was withdrawn from industrial service in 1972, and bought by the SCC in 1973. (instead of 73 & 74). (9/8) #STMY #TTTE

One last update on Rosie. After posting that thread about her backstory, I realised the red livery should have yellow boiler bands. So here's a minor update. #STMY #TTTE
23.01.2026 23:51 β π 66 π 15 π¬ 3 π 0Rosie in her red livery is shunting at a harbour. In the background, Duck the Great Western engine looks annoyed.

After a few teething troubles, Rosie settled into her new role. She quickly got the hang of working the yard & harbour, and still works there to this day. (8/8) #STMY #TTTE

Rosie in a red livery with the number 18 is waiting at a signal to leave the workshop.
In 2012, it became clear an engine was needed to shunt the yard and harbour at Arlesburgh. Edward got wind of this and suggested Rosie. For the first time in her life, she was given a choice of livery. She chose NWR red, which sheβd seen on James and liked. (7/8) #STMY #TTTE

Rosie in a green livery with a green livery waits with BR Mk 1 coaches at a station on her heritage railway.
Rosie enjoyed working on the heritage railway, but missed doing real work in industry or on a branch line. They looked after her well. In 1993, she was given a new livery, based off the green sheβd previously worn under British Rail. (6/8) #STMY #TTTE
23.01.2026 09:25 β π 25 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0Edward, Boco, Bill and Ben from Thomas & Friends look sadly at Rosie, who is in yellow livery.
In 1979, the existing seams of kaolin in the china clay quarry ran out. As such, the quarry briefly shut down while new seams were found. Rosie was no longer needed, and was sold to a heritage railway. Funds from this sale kept the quarry going and new seams were found in 1980. (5/8) #STMY #TTTE

After spending one year in the scrapyard, Rosie was purchased by the Sodor China Clay Co. and repaired. She mostly shunted Brendam Harbour, and took supplies to the quarry. She got on well with the engines, including James, who came down the branchline a couple of times. (4/8) #STMY #TTTE

In 1967, Rosie was withdrawn from BR service. She was bought by a small harbour in Southern England and acted as the pilot there until 1973. That year, the harbour bought a withdrawn BR Class 08 diesel to replace her. So she was sent to a scrapyard. (3/8) #STMY #TTTE
23.01.2026 09:22 β π 26 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0A S100 class locomotive with Southern Railway black is shunting trucks.

A S100 locomotive with the late BR logo is shunting box vans into a goods shed.

After the war, Rosie was bought by the Southern Railway in England and rebuilt with an extended bunker. In 1948, she was absorbed into British Rail. In 1956 she was repainted with the BR βferret and dartboardβ logo. In 1960, she was repainted green with the same logo. (2/8) #STMY #TTTE

A USATC S100 class in USATC black is shunting in France. There is a train going past in the background.
Hereβs Rosieβs full backstory for #STMY.
She was originally built as the prototype of the USATC S100 class, and was test-run in Bigg City port between 1941-1943. After her test runs, her sisters were built. She was shipped off to Europe with them to help with WW2. (1/8) #TTTE
Rowan is no. 17. Rosie will be the next to arrive after him.
21.01.2026 07:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just the piston rods. Nameplate was always red.
21.01.2026 07:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A USATC S100 class tank engine with a freckled Thomas & Friends style face is on a siding. She is in a green livery with the number 18. One of her side rods is painted red.
A slight update to Rosie's NWR livery. Just a bit more colour on the running gear. #STMY #TTTE
21.01.2026 06:59 β π 58 π 14 π¬ 2 π 0Three USATC S100 locomotives are sitting on parallel sidings.
Further to this, I've been informed that the USATC S100 class had lower coal bunkers when first built. The extended bunkers were given to them on the Southern Railway in 1947. So here are Rosie's updated Bigg City and USATC models, as well as an 'Early' Southern Railway black. (3/2) #STMY #TTTE
20.01.2026 01:05 β π 32 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0Just coincidence.
19.01.2026 22:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0STMY isn't in the same universe as the TV series.
19.01.2026 21:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0True. But I don't have any plans for Hank.
19.01.2026 20:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0I have considered the idea previously, but I've already got a few heavy goods engines, such as Patrick and Peter.
