5/ Supporting these efforts means advocating for a fairer, more transparent system where AI serves people—not exploits them. The fight for AI justice is the fight for economic rights, civil rights, and human dignity. #A2J #Legaltech #Law #LegalAid

4/ Through JAi, I’m focusing on exposing AI-driven harm, creating tools to challenge automated systems, and pushing for real consumer protections and policies that work in the digital age but are also culturally relevant.

3/ Regulators are also behind. Laws protecting consumers from deceptive AI practices are vague or nonexistent. Without strong enforcement and modernized legal tools, companies will keep using AI as a shield to avoid accountability. That’s why projects tackling AI justice, like JAi, are so important!

2/ AI can scan, deny, and justify a rejection in seconds, while many legal aid clinics still relies on case-by-case reviews and stretched-thin resources. This imbalance makes it nearly impossible for vulnerable-excluded communities to fight back effectively.

1/ An initiative like JAi is so important because traditional legal aid models weren’t built for the AI era. They rely on slow, manual processes while corporations use AI to automate denial tactics, delay claims, and make decisions with little oversight. The system is outdated and outmatched.

8/ The JAi Project is a lifeline for vulnerable communities and example of #ethicalAi. Many don’t realize how AI-driven systems deny & block them opportunities, overcharge them, or make critical decisions without transparency.

7/ AI bias in insurance, banking, and government services isn't just an inconvenience—it’s a civil rights issue. Legal tech can help level the playing field by making legal resources more accessible and holding companies accountable for automated discrimination.

6/ become another tool of systemic inequality. Modernizing the legal industry is crucial right now… outdated systems leave consumers vulnerable to AI-driven denial tactics. #Legaltech can streamline disputes and increase transparency. Access to justice must evolve with technology.

5/ and regulations to ensure AI isn’t used as a shield to deny access, delay service, or violate rights. AI should assist, not obstruct. These companies must be held accountable for making sure their technology serves customers; not exploits them. Regulators need to step in before AI-driven policies

4/ And if they do have reps available, they funnel people through bots designed to upsell or redirect to another bot, not resolve problems. When AI creates more hardship than convenience for consumers, it becomes a structural disadvantage. We need stronger consumer protections

3/ push back against automated errors or unfair decisions. The issue isn’t just automation; it’s how AI is being used deceptively to avoid accountability. These companies make it nearly impossible to reach a trained human agent for actual solutions and corrections of errors.

2/ manage my policy, online accounts and enforce my rights. If I’m facing this much difficulty navigating these companies AI-driven systems, I can only imagine how much worse it is for vulnerable groups—especially those who may not have the time, resources, or knowledge to

We rally together when the rule of law is under attack. And make no mistake, our courts and profession are under attack. This is our moment as a profession to speak loudly and clearly, reminding our communities why the rule of law and our justice system are vital to our democracy. Today is the day when the organized bar stands and speaks.

We stand for the rule of law. We defend our judicial system against attacks that seek to intimidate and threaten our courts and judges. We reject the repeated efforts to impeach and remove judges because the government does not agree with the decision. We condemn attacks on lawyers and law firms for representing clients who have challenged a government policy. We defend law firms and organizations who are being attacked for their commitment to a judicial system and profession that are free of bias and for their policies and programs that enhance diversity. Shouldn't every person who appears in our courts be treated the same and consistent with due process as required by our Constitution? Finally we reject efforts that seek to punish those who have represented parties the government does not like. These attacks undermine our system of justice and the principles that define who we are and how democracy works.

Let there be no doubt. The ABA and the profession will lead when we need it most. Now is that time. We stand with our courts and the legal profession as a bulwark against these threats. They must stop.

Attacks on the rule of law, our courts and our profession show no signs of abating. Many have wondered where the lawyers are and how they are responding. The ABA hears the call to action. We do not stand alone: ambar.org/akz90o52
