@davidmcraney.bsky.social or anyone else know of any good books or podcasts that breakdown how Media from newspapers, books, radio, movies, TV, all the way to social media have influenced society? Stuff people like Hitler and Western books, Ten Commandments movie, AM radio shows, etc.

How about Monsters: The Ed Gein Story? A fictionalized version of true events. We don't know that much about Adeline Watkins and yet people will think she is evil because of that protrayal based on little evidence. There are many examples of media coloring our perceptions of the world around us.

I'm curious about the effect of media on society and our perceptions of history and current events. We would likely not have today's controversy surrounding the Ten Commandments if not for the historically inaccurate and very fictionalized Charlton Heston movie of a historically inaccurate story.

I found the first foundation novel so disappointing I stopped 2/3rds in. It didn't age well, the characters were flat, and I just didn't get it. I suppose it was about the over arching plot but the arch never got off the ground because of the writing.

I don't have to like Newsom to respect the game he is playing. He won't be president. I will vote against the right with few exceptions but many voters who actually vote Dem aren't going to vote for him. In today's overton window, he is centrist or lib but that is too far right for many.

It's going to be like COVID era search for TP but with booze between Maga drowning their sorrows and most everyone else celebrating. Liquors stores are going to run out of booze across the US. I don't think this seriously but there might be a few.

I'm not a big fan of ad hominum attacks, specially looks. That being said, he looks like he is healing from having got the vacuum stuck on his lips.

Pulling ones self up by the bootstraps is such a an ironic and asshole phrase. If you see someone trying to do that, maybe don't be an ass. Go help them. Impossible can be possible with help.

Seeing @mikeflanaganfilm.com reposting reviews from Life of Chuck reminded me how much I enjoyed the movie myself. Mike is my favorite director and I appreciate all the great acting. Good movie all the way through. Three parts. First one is confusing but then it all makes sense by second.

Two things can be true. AI can be helpful and tech bros/oligarchs are bad humans. AI shouldn't replace humans for disabled/Neurodiverse people but should compliment. Unfortunately, they are going to cram it down our throats with little research so the shareholder's stock value rises.

I'm about to listen to this but my thoughts prior, based on the title alone, isn't the US government propping up AI now thanks to the billionaire AI tech bro GOP buyout? And if the Dems roll in, well money buys them out enough that they don't have the courage to fix.
