Too many of them are sorry, but not necessarily willing to work to undo what they did. The only example I can think of is that one guy who orchestrated a lot of our current Christian right wing systems, and now he is not just sorry, but is actively marching and organizing against ICE.

People also have accidents. And fall onto the tracks. Platform gates would mitigate that. People also have suicidal ideation and they need help, not judgement. Japan has platform gates for exactly those reasons.

Reducing costs is fine and all but you’d reduce accidents and tragedies by installing platform gates. That would have been a net benefit to everyone.

Speaking as a lefty transit anarchist who uses BART, these gates are slower! And more awkward with a suitcase in tow! They were also billed as a safety measure even tho it’s PLATFORM gates, not fare gates that create safety. Safety theatre was the lefty transit anarchist issue with the new gates.
