need you to constantly remind yourself that the average normal person has no idea that any of the stuff we are rightly getting upset about is going on. they dont know. and we need to do everything we individually can to make them know.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Dems needed to talk plainly about why the short term pain of a government shutdown would be “worth it” to people who have a lot on the line. The ones who cannot really afford to miss a paycheck. And they needed to start doing it weeks ago.

Dems need to start NOW (better time would have been weeks ago) explaining to constituents why some short term pain may be worth it to ultimately save jobs. Once folks aren’t receiving paychecks, the messaging opportunities are very limited.
