idk what it is but there's really something so beautiful to me about sketchbook art.

paintings, of course, take a lot of skill and time, but there's something special to me about taking a pencil or a ballpoint pen to a paper and just drawing what's on your mind

i envy people who do that well.

[a tiny little hyper introspective comic] follows the arrows. various sketches of super mario of varying quality. dear god, she's brought out the ballpoint pen. no references in sight.... there aren't going to be consistent designs to rely on anymore- just whatever ends up on the page is just going to be there... don't worry, soon as she runs out of energy- we'll be back to normal stuff that is hard to draw additionally slows her down... like hands. isn't the quality just gonna get worse til she stops? not necessarily, just less and less consistent. like a printer running out of ink. doesn't this just end up being counterproductive then? yeah, is it really helping someone to just bash their heads into a wall til they get tired? what are they learning? maybe that they shouldn't force it, and not having a plan might not be helpful. that's uh.... i mean, i guess. but idk if that's a super fun way to learn that.

from what I recall, a thing a lot of people trying to build portfolios for gigs like this, is just doing a lot of free stuff when starting out

kind of like the way people end up doing a lot of internships before jobs hire them. ouch
