Today marks 14 years since 17-year-old, unarmed Trayvon Martin was shot and killed while walking home.

14 years later, we’re still demanding a country where our children can walk home in peace β€” without being treated like a threat.

We have a new paper out! :)

Our study reveals how bark beetles and their fungal symbionts actively transform the tree’s internal nutrient landscape supporting beetle nutrition, with major implications for forest carbon and nutrient dynamics.

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Mountain Pine Beetle - Profile | Invasive Species Centre The mountain pine beetle is native to western Canada, but has expanded and could become invasive, due to climate change and past forest management programs.

Plants have pathogens. One of the most important for the Ponderosa pine are pine beetles (Dendroctonus ponderosae) that bore into bark to feed on phloem.

The plant responds with a chemical immune system: terpene-rich resin that flows through resin ducts, flushing out or drowning the beetle.
