Together we plant seeds for change. Our hybrid, inclusive space creates unity, belonging and wellbeing. Change starts with one person, one shared story, at one circle at a time.
What is Intersectional Healing? We cannot fully heal as individuals within a society fractured by centuries of systemic oppression, yet society cannot be repaired without addressing the wounds carried by individuals and communities. Healing intersectionally means embracing both truths: working to dismantle all forms of discrimination while fostering deep, transformative healing that spans every intersection of identity. Drawing from our experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), coaching and healing practises we have crafted innovative Cultural change program and a Consulting approach that bridge the gap between organisational and individual healing.
What is intersectional healing?
How does one plant seeds for change in personal life and within organisations and the systems we exist in?

Acknowledge the Interconnectedness It is essential to recognize that the racial capitalist patriarchy is not a series of isolated issues but a complex, interlocking system. Each element-racism, capitalism, and patriarchy-reinforces the others. The subjugation of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) has been integral to the expansion of capitalism in America, while patriarchy has often served to maintain the social order that benefits the elite. To face and overturn these structures, we must understand their interconnections and work on multiple fronts simultaneously. Steps Toward Transformation 1. Education and Consciousness-Raising The first step in dismantling racial capitalism and patriarchy is education. We must raise awareness about the ways in which these systems operate and the harm they cause. This involves teaching a more accurate history of the United States-one that does not whitewash or sanitize its violent origins. Public education, media representation, and grassroots activism can all serve as vehicles to challenge the dominant narratives that obscure the realities of racial capitalism and patriarchy.
2. Economic Justice Racial capitalism thrives on inequality. The pursuit of economic justice is central to any effort to dismantle the system. This means pushing for policies that address wealth inequality, reparations for the descendants of enslaved people, and broader redistribution of resources. Proposals like universal basic income, Medicare for All, and free or affordable education are all examples of the kinds of structural reforms that could undermine the economic foundations of racial capitalism. Additionally, creating equitable pathways for workers of all races and genders to collectively organize and advocate for their interests is crucial. 3. Reproductive and Gender Justice Overturning patriarchy requires dismantling gender hierarchies and ensuring that all individuals have the right to determine their own futures. This includes not only reproductive rights (the right to choose, access to healthcare, and family leave policies) but also the dismantling of gendered expectations in labor, education, and domestic life. Feminist movements, particularly those led by women of color, have long emphasized that gender justice cannot be achieved without addressing race and class inequalities. We must also center trans and non-binary people's rights and ensure that their struggles are included in the fight for gender justice.
4. Decolonization and Reparations At the core of the racial capitalist patriarchy is the history of colonialism, which created the conditions for the exploitation of Indigenous people and people of African descent. Decolonization-both in terms of land and culture-is essential to breaking the grip of this system. This means acknowledging Indigenous sovereignty, returning land to Native communities, and supporting self-determination for all people. Reparations for African Americans, Indigenous people, and other marginalized communities are not only a moral imperative but also a critical part of healing the structural wounds caused by centuries of exploitation. 5. Intersectional Solidarity and Movements The fight against racial capitalism and patriarchy must be intersectional, recognizing that different forms of oppression intersect and compound one another. Black feminists like KimberlΓ© Crenshaw and Audre Lorde have long argued that race, gender, and class cannot be understood in isolation. Movements like Black Lives Matter, the feminist movement, labor organizing, Indigenous sovereignty movements, and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups are all part of the broader struggle against racial capitalist patriarchy. Solidarity between these movements is key to creating the kind of systemic change necessary to confront these entrenched power structures.
6. Radical Democracy and Political Transformation Overturning the racial capitalist patriarchy requires more than policy reformsβit demands a fundamental transformation in the way we organize power. This involves democratizing institutions, from workplaces to governments, ensuring that people, especially those who have historically been marginalized, have a say in decision-making processes. Proportional representation, participatory budgeting, and democratizing the economy through cooperative business models are just a few examples of how we might transform our political systems to be more inclusive, accountable, and representative of all communities. 7. Cultural Reimagining Finally, we must transform the cultural narratives that perpetuate racial capitalism and patriarchy. This involves decolonizing our imaginations-reclaiming the narratives, symbols, and values that have been used to justify exploitation and inequality. We need to foster a culture of care, community, and collective responsibility, rather than one of individualism, competition, and dominance. This cultural shift will require creating spaces where people of all backgrounds can come together to imagine and build alternative futures.
