Yes? Of course? However, I also know there's a history of companies and governments (including US based ones) sliding disasters with radioactivity under the rug even when there's millions showing effects, thus why I am hoping that experts have been able to alert people and they've gotten support.

Because it's the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, where you make a temporary enclosed space for meditation, praying for rain, and study, while it's not the "proper" sukkah (name for said space), I have turned a large box into an apartment one, and it does fill me with joy to have a silly little space.

Ooo, well that's a book to add to the booklist!

And yeah. I may have...issues with my mom, but one of the notable good things she did was warn me I might potentially be sensitive to weed because she was, then explained how edibles were taken safely. Better than the scare propaganda!

(And for those doing that eyes emoji at my alternative method...Keep an eye on your stomach acid and heart rate, but either trader joe's powdered chai mix mixed with coffee, or throw some loose leaf black tea in the drip pot with the coffee and brew it that way.)

(stares at how I have to combine coffee with tea while my adhd meds are in limbo and it's still only kinda hitting the right level of medicated)

Y'know...I'm really thinking that it might be better if we educated people on how to do risk benefit analysis with drugs instead of taking them away.

This is the original meaning of death of the author and a part of criticism in general! Essentially, "I see the intent of the author, but this piece of work is what I have to work with and their intent is separate from my interpretations of their piece."

Well...Intentional or not, judging by good reads, they seemed to have hit way too accurate of a mark on the whole "how do people response to recs" thing.

"Now remember, we want to focus on infowars. Not that Tucker Carlson was a bad accidental target, but let's really focus this time."

(Context: Been listening to Knowledge Fight and apparently Tucker Carlson has claimed to have been attacked by demons? Things have gotten weird over there.)

Best of luck! Oh! And uh, don't worry about getting ink or graphite on your hand as you move across the page, pinky side of your hand dragging across. It's pretty common for lefties.

Alright! So, for whatever reason, pen holding works a bit differently for different hands. For left hand, at least how I learned it, you hold with thumb and forefinger, while resting it on your middle finger. This allows for more stability while writing!

Would pen holding technique advice from a lifelong leftie be wanted?

(And woo! Workinng with opposite hand!)

'I am depleting my savings...' Do y'all understand the gravity of this? The lengths people have to go to in order to stay in business? In order to continue paying their bills? If the price is too high, move along, find it elsewhere, but don't harass the shop owners to lower their prices.

There was a baby prairie rattler curled up in a tight little circle about four inches from where Native Plant Guy’s hand was. (No shade on NPG, the little dude was practically invisible.)

NPG: Thank you for not biting me!

NPG: I’m just here making better habitat for you.
SNEK: *glares*

(Which random sidebar, but having had childhood epilepsy, even if it wasn't lightbased, it makes me REALLY glad to see more games are offering settings to turn off white flashes or screenshake, or other flashing that could trigger a seizure. Those are actually helpful because seizures are awful!)

That is EXACTLY what is meant when a lot of autistic people bring up needing help with symptoms or what is meant when they say research is needed.

It's not being autistic that needs to be improved on, rather it's the comorbidities.

09.10.2025 21:15 — 👍 3    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

AND, in this same token, why can't we focus on improving their quality of life? Why shouldn't we focus on reducing seizures or death from epilepsy?

09.10.2025 21:10 — 👍 74    🔁 6    💬 2    📌 1

Also, I want to be clear: autistic people with high support needs do have significant challenges. People with it have lower life expectancy, face more risks to health and institutionalization. They deal with self-injury and risk death from epilepsy. They deserve services that ameliorate it.

09.10.2025 21:09 — 👍 97    🔁 18    💬 2    📌 1

There are people who think that people myself who have written about autism acceptance diminish their needs. That couldn't be further from the truth. Accepting autistic people means accepting ALL autistic people. Not just the convenient ones like myself. It means providing them the proper supports

Apologies for some issues with phrasing. I'm trying to find the right words for this, but my own brain fog isn't helping.

In any case, don't treat disabled people like children unless they are literally a child, but also, are you treating children as small still learning people? Or as lesser?

09.10.2025 20:36 — 👍 7    🔁 2    💬 1    📌 0

Actually, I'll add to that, child or no, ALWAYS listen to what someone is saying whether it be verbal or written or a form of sign language.

The fact people will use having a childlike mind or demeanor as a reason to dismiss very legitimate and serious concerns is a problem.

09.10.2025 20:36 — 👍 6    🔁 1    💬 1    📌 0

I have a lot of thoughts about this that should be more composed before I fully go off, but for now I'll just say that NEVER assume that because someone is non-verbal, that they don't have anything to say.

Also don't assume they have the mind of a child. That is so fucked up.

09.10.2025 20:32 — 👍 23    🔁 7    💬 2    📌 1

We're learning so much more about the experiences of nonverbal autistic people now, too, thanks to increasing awareness and assistive technology, and what really stood out to me was how much their intelligence, experiences, and suffering have been unheard and dismissed in favor of the parents' POV.
