So uh...No real point to this post other than a place can be gorgeous, and also a REALLY risky summer destination even if you're being careful.
Also always have at least one water bottle with you when doing touristy stuff.

Even reading an experienced hiker and rescue person describe various hikes and whatnot...You really do not want to go in without plans and back up plans for water. Let alone temps. And definitely do not ever use Death Valley as a shortcut to Yosemite.
11.08.2025 04:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Some sites do mention October and April are the better months to go because it's not as extreme, but yeah. Listicles hyping folks up with all the positives is...Uhhhh...Hmmm...
Like, sure, sure, there's a lot of exagerrated names and whatnot. This one. Ehhhhhhhhhhh...
To be fair, I am an anxious creature, so I dunno. I see "Death Valley" and "Temps averaging over 100 degrees fahrenheit" and go "heh. Heh. Noooooope"
And I do get that it's a gorgeous area! Just. Maybe not in the middle of summer?
A screenshot taken of a duckduck go search. The searchbar at the top of the browser has the text "why do people visit death valley" then below three sites. One being "5 Reasons Why Death Valley Should be the Next National Park You Visit" from Earth Trekkers. Then "20 reasons to visit dazzling Death Valley" from USA Today, and finally, "Is Death Valley Worth Visiting? 14 Reasons It is!" from Red Around Around the World.

Y'know what. I thiiiiiiink I found my answer for why people might approach visiting this area without the appropriate amount of caution.
Aaaaaaannnnd this is why hiking fascinates me in a horrifying type of way.
May those folks's memories be a blessing, and hopefully folks remember that the "Death" part of "Death Valley" isn't an exagerration.
That first paragraph of "Look, expressing things without sounding flippant or being lighthearted regardless of subject matter is extremely difficult for me" is such a mood and perfect for making me specifically want to keep reading lol
11.08.2025 03:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Christopher Lee is having the time of his life in Wicker Man, 100% getting into his role.
Meanwhile in the final Hammer Studios Dracula film...He's taking full advantage of the fact he's imposing even when just standing around.
The other night we went from Wickerman (1973) to Elvira's viewing of The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) which turned out to be humorous in its own way.
Christopher Lee is barely in this Dracula film, and I'm 99% certain they had to wave his contract at him to get him to come back from Scotland.
I am certainly intrigued!

But still creepy as fuck to randomly get a notification that's like, "Hey! Give us money to bring you to the valley of death where living creatures die! : D "
Oh! It's this thing you put on the tv to have a nice cozy escape from reality. Like Wicker Man (1973)!

11.08.2025 03:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0No, no, I get it. There needs to be a POINT for the basebuilding, but also I don't want my character to be lonely, but also can we do strategy and leveling things up so I can have an edge over the enemies?
11.08.2025 03:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0if you are overwhelmed, I highly recommend:
-making a list of things you don't care about being out of the loop
-cutting down on alcohol
-cleaning, organizing and decluttering your home instead of doomscrolling
-making plans with friends
-weekly therapy
-charging your phone away from your bed

New game development hiring scam just dropped!
They overwhelmed the email with information that might look trustworthy but if you pay attention to details it's a scam
Anyways!!! No perfect portfolio, just vision, commitment and passion 😔
(looks at current game collection and how the moment I had free money I could decide what to do with I bought a PS4)
Nooooooooooooooo clue what you're talking about. Totally am not in this picture at all. Totally am not STILL in this picture to a certain degree.
Photo of a log with a hole in it that looks very much like the shape of a little winged fairy.
I stumbled on an old photo I took in my local park of a fairy crash site. It's not there any more - the log's rotted - but I think about that fairy often.

Anyways. Ark was via Epic rather than Steam. Also a nope out. Witcher 3 was FINE until they required you download the HD textures I wasn't going to touch anyways. I think *most* of my steam downloads max out at around 60gb.

Not sure if meme or investigation for article but in no particular order of when...Stardew Valley, Elder Scrolls IV and V, Soma, Witcher 3, Lethal Company, Final Fantasy IX, Half Life 2, Slay the Princess, Terraria, Path of Exile, Baldurs Gate 3, Bioshock 1, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Dragon Age Origins...
