So uh...No real point to this post other than a place can be gorgeous, and also a REALLY risky summer destination even if you're being careful.

Also always have at least one water bottle with you when doing touristy stuff.

Even reading an experienced hiker and rescue person describe various hikes and whatnot...You really do not want to go in without plans and back up plans for water. Let alone temps. And definitely do not ever use Death Valley as a shortcut to Yosemite.

Some sites do mention October and April are the better months to go because it's not as extreme, but yeah. Listicles hyping folks up with all the positives is...Uhhhh...Hmmm...

Like, sure, sure, there's a lot of exagerrated names and whatnot. This one. Ehhhhhhhhhhh...

To be fair, I am an anxious creature, so I dunno. I see "Death Valley" and "Temps averaging over 100 degrees fahrenheit" and go "heh. Heh. Noooooope"

And I do get that it's a gorgeous area! Just. Maybe not in the middle of summer?

Y'know what. I thiiiiiiink I found my answer for why people might approach visiting this area without the appropriate amount of caution.

Aaaaaaannnnd this is why hiking fascinates me in a horrifying type of way.

The other night we went from Wickerman (1973) to Elvira's viewing of The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) which turned out to be humorous in its own way.

Christopher Lee is barely in this Dracula film, and I'm 99% certain they had to wave his contract at him to get him to come back from Scotland.

No, no, I get it. There needs to be a POINT for the basebuilding, but also I don't want my character to be lonely, but also can we do strategy and leveling things up so I can have an edge over the enemies?

if you are overwhelmed, I highly recommend:
-making a list of things you don't care about being out of the loop
-cutting down on alcohol
-cleaning, organizing and decluttering your home instead of doomscrolling
-making plans with friends
-weekly therapy
-charging your phone away from your bed

Anyways. Ark was via Epic rather than Steam. Also a nope out. Witcher 3 was FINE until they required you download the HD textures I wasn't going to touch anyways. I think *most* of my steam downloads max out at around 60gb.

Not too many personally. I think largest install was...Fuck, I forget the name but it was some game that was technically free and a former friend wanted me to try, but I noped out the second I saw one of the characters was...very creepily designed.

(counts) Okay at 16. Bayonetta, House Flipper, Civilization V and VI, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, annnnnnd we'll end off with No Man's Sky.

(At least if it's the last one, I'm pretty certain I'm already on a low histamine diet due to eating similarly to partner to a degree, plus I was already on pepcid and claritin. So...There's that weird bit of luck. Still means Lyft/Uber are unusable to me at this point.)

It's not fair! And like. Right now I literally do not know if it's that my asthma is more sensitive to fragrances, if it's this overdoing of fragrance everywhere, or if covid gave me MCAS, but either way, my lungs are NOT happy.
