Like, a whole LAKE is gone now. Underground aquifers? Empty.
Before the years end this was going to be a problem even with the old regime. But destroying any ability to get water? Fuck you. May the guilt be heavy and follow those who participated in any such attack for as long they live.

Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.

As someone who's been the crash-ee, has accidentally missed that it was a crash out and fucked up, and also the one who just stands there nodding (literally or metaphorically)?
Yeah, just let the storm happen, and deal with shit in the calm after.

My uncle-est take is you should let marginalized people, folks with more skin in the game than you, have their crashouts in peace.

So while a definitive answer isn't possible without concrete data, there is a strong correlation between what pets millennials are more likely to have AND bluesky's demographic.
Or in far fewer, far less pedantic science-y terms...Yes.

Hmm...I wonder...Thinking on one of the replies, well, we know millennials and younger are more likely to get apartments that can be limiting regarding both dog sizes and breeds, but often chill regarding cats. And anecdotatally, millennial and younger *do* seem to be bluesky's primary demographic

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

When RFK Jr said in public that "its all on the mothers" to make the decisions re vaccines, that made a chill run up my spine. Abdicating all responsibility for careful sensitive public health comms and research and blaming mothers all over again.

(Falcon and Winter Soldier was solid for like...85% of it, and the remaining 15% was where you can tell executives were meddling with what HAD to be. I knew they couldn't land the politics going on with Disney at the helm but ohhhhhh did they whiff it.)

Yeah, the marvel shows around then all suffered from that to some degree.
If I recall correctly, Loki did okay but overall mid season ending. Wandavision was the best of the bunch which is still...The bar is low. Yet Falcon and Winter Soldier managed to limbo under it.

Rising gas prices + you KNOW the computer parts shortages will effect cars + EV tax stuff being gone = Well. I guess even if I did finally turn my permit into a license, the whole "car" part of the whole thing might just be too expensive.

All of that were problems before genAI and now it's like what if we turbo charged it?
Meanwhile I'm just trying to find a way to learn how to make cool little programs that works with my dysfunctional brain and learning style.

That said...Sooooooo many resources assume all you care about is getting hired, and efficiency. And want your money to maybe get you closer.
And a disappointing amount of courses and material are built with this mindset at well, meaning it's just HARD to find good ones.

That's a good point, and it's interesting coming at the culture and scene as someone who, well, needs something that pays more but genuinely *gets* the beauty of the puzzle solving. I think it's cool to put these pieces together to create something new, and helpful.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

I get it. It’s enraging. Infuriating. Maddening, even.
And: if you want uptake to improve, you cannot do that by accusing people of hating their children. It’s actually a really great way to get them to double down.
Also, how many of you are wearing masks?

I say that because, well, "trust doctors" sounds reasonable until you've dealt with all sorts of ways that statement just doesn't work. And each time you're failed by the medical system, it's that much harder to actually believe what's being told to you.

It alas does...
I do agree with what you're saying, and tbh it seems a fair number of people have never had a doctor claim they're lying about health issues, or had one suggest things like "dark honey" for...a fever caused by tooth infection.

You know what's funny? People always accuse scientists of being disconnected from reality, caring only about their science.
They have no idea how much empathy and understanding of the broader picture is required for good Public Health work.
So you get stuff like this...

You get absolutely nowhere if you just say "everyone who distrusts vaccines are just evil people." If you are incapable of seeing this, then I dont know what to say. Blame actual anti-vaxxers like RFK Jr, wellness influencers making billions etc, and social media companies.

...that is vaccine hesitancy. And it is not useful either to shame those communities/parents for their doubts. If you work in public health, you have to operate from the stance of wanting to change those minds, working with the communities, acknowledging historical traumas, etc.../

It is useful, and prudent, to make a distinction between vaccine hesitancy and vaccine resistance. For example, there are many reasons why certain racialized and minoritized communities might hold onto questions about vaccines because of their histories with the state and colonization.../
