The shift from lumber town to Capital has taken changes in thinking and a lot of work.
Two ideas that helped beautify our region were:
π³ Creating parks and scenic parkways
π Moving railway lines and rail yards
Prime Minister Laurier famously called Ottawa βnot a handsome city.β
When sawmills and factories lined the river, smoke blanketed the skyline, and railway lines cut through downtown and divided neighbourhoods, there wasnβt room for the green spaces and amenities we enjoy today.

Until September 1, lifeguards will be on duty daily from 7:30 am β7:30 pm.

After two years along the LeBreton Flats pathway, the Capitalβs favourite crow is taking off to its next perch.
The east wharf platform will feature:

Weβre building a recreational platform on the Ottawa River near the Rideau Canal locks.
Youβll be able to relax on a multi-level wooden platform by the water and enjoy sunset views of the river.
