08.10.2025 17:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think some of this comes down to your definition of expert - but I would certainly expect a GM to have a degree of 'expertise' at the given game
08.10.2025 17:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you're not expert in a system tho, I think you need to tell the players in advance, because it can change someone's experience of a game (especially if they are an experienced player). System matters and all that.

08.10.2025 09:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good morning! I have had a couple of people tell me Ex Ten shouldn't use 2d10 because it breaks the PBTA probability curve. They could not be more wrong and I am going explain why, because it's the end of my campaign and I need something to keep me sane, ok?
Strap in.

Love that. Personally, I find the 2d10 probability curve more satisfying than 2d6, just because it has that smidge more granularity without going full 1d20 swingy, as your system embraces

07.10.2025 16:03 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It troubles me that Iβm starting to feel the same way about Bluesky that I do about the UK. Like: it sounds great, and some of the people I know are great, but the leadership is making some weird choices and Iβm a bit worried it may all be over in a couple of years.

07.10.2025 15:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Last week, with the enthusiasm of a visiting speaker and some rapid examples, I wondered if AI had truly advanced in the last couple of months and was now capable of astounding things.
Today has confirmed this is still not the case
I can see it's a good game, and I have no doubt it's enjoyable with friends. But a single mission takes 45-60 minutes on PC, so probably 2-3x that in person. I guess if you're lucky and get good, you can play maybe 3 missions a night and win 2/3. That's still a hell of a slog.
I installed it π

On that basis, I'm amazed it's so highly rated as a boardgame. Yes, clever mechanics and good story, but it's such a frustrating drag to have to replay missions coz of one bad moment. Who has that time?
Dadβs books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending itβs their own fault. So I hope Kemiβs taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

07.10.2025 12:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Copilot update
I just contacted the person who's leading our AI exploratory work. A very lovely, intelligent person, and 100x less cynical than me.
I tell her how shit Copilot in Excel is.
Her reply?
"Wait til you try Powerpoint. It's even worse"
Bodes well...
I know it's not ideal, but can you digitise them?
07.10.2025 12:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Us management types have been upgraded to full CoPilot to test it out. So far, so unimpressed.
07.10.2025 12:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whatever. I do it manually (not hard after all)
But I do need to know how many words are in the table. Figure I'll ask copilot. I select the table and ask it to count the words.
"There are 53 words in total, including all headers and cell content"
There aren't. There are 51 you dumb fuck.
/End
Asked it to do it again, exactly copying existing formatting.
It gave me the exact same ugly black and white table again.
I say "this isn't my original formatting at all"
Copilot responds "Oh sorry, I can't actually access or replicate precise formatting from your sheet"
2/
Ignored copilot. Created the table I wanted manually.
Asked the AI to turn it into high res image file.
Gave me this:
1/
Oh no. "Currently, I do not have the capability to directly modify or write back to your open Excel file"
But it offered me instructions on how to do it using conditional formatting. WHICH I OBVIOUSLY KNOW HOW TO DO ALREADY
What an incredible productivity enhancing tool this is.
/End
A coloured-coded 5 x 5 grid
This is what it generated. Shame about the legend.
It then said "What would you like me to do", and gave 3 options. One was "Export this into Excel"
I liked the sound of that, so I typed "export back into Excel"
