That's an interesting observation - I'd not heard that Price of Freedom was an explicit parody. Is there an interview with Greg Costikyan or something?

Any of my mutuals in the NE like Samantha Fish and fancy a free ticket for tomorrow at Wylam Brewery? I have a spare ticket, unexpectedly.

I know, I left that one hanging for someone to pick up. Surprised @agentpumpkin.bsky.social didn't come in for it, but maybe not punny enough

People are sticklers for that sort of thing. Luckily history podcasts don't have the same issues

Travelling a couple of weeks ago, looking at the map, I spied an interesting place name I'd never heard of before - Levitt Hagg.

So I looked it up a bit.

Well, before I got my little skoda, I had an Audi A3, which I only bought because when we calculated depreciation etc it was actually cheaper than the equivalent Golf. It was a damn good car, did 145k miles in it. But it was just a golf with chrome knobs

there were news stories about fuel prices shooting up in a week or two, so people are getting their panic buying in early!

(they're basically VWs for price conscious older drivers, which is me in a nutshell!)

Both our cars are skodas now, we just bought a little 1 litre Skoda Fabia. It's Ford Fiesta or VW Polo size - but big enough for our family of four, and modern 1l petrol engines are actually quite nippy while delivering motorway fuel economy better than our diesels used to. It's an impressive car

Skoda Enyaq. A really lovely car, loads of room, wonderful vehicle to drive and very reasonable for its size. Sadly, we got the smaller range version and it only does about 160 miles and less if you're driving over 55mph. Fine most days, but wouldn't get to my elderly parents and back

I use that too, and while it annoyingly asks me to upgrade every now and then, it seems decent

Timing not great for handing back our lovely but frustratingly low range EV this month.

Missus just popped to fill up our little petrol car, and none available at all. None. Zip. Nada. Totally sold out.

Seemingly everyone wants to be a Breton. I've gone from iddle widdly corner in the north west to ALL THE FROGGIES!! and I might have to load a saved game because it's all too much to manage!

Does it have text search? TBH if it does, it sounds perfect. Stripped back apps that just do the one thing you want them to do really well is my jam

it feels like cyberpunk and the London gangster genre are an obvious fit, I dunno why there hasn't been more cockney cyberpunk stuff

we could call it "cockneypunk," you could have razorbirds and netgeezers

I find it so stupid that the media are running the story as if it's a great insult.

Yes, he's no Winston Churchill. Only one person ever was, and he was an utterly incredible man in the broadest sense, a great leader and an absolute cunt all in one.

Having great fun playing Brittany in Crusader Kings

Unified the kingdom and invested in infrastructure during the long reign of King Alan

His son expanded into Spain and suddenly all the Dukes of South France want to be my vassals and now I'm the big cheese in West Europe. I'm not ready for it!
