Average daily traffic on I-40 @ BNA per TDOT numbers is ~170,000. Removing 205 cars per day (75,000/365) is a 0.12% reduction in I-40 traffic. Big sounding numbers aren't always significant.

At a recent event, a Nashville Yards official noted that the 2 current NY hotels generate about 75,000 round trips to BNA annually, and that removing that traffic from the interstate via the Boring tunnel would be "significant." No, it wouldn't be significant . . . .

Basically, the state of Tennessee's "solutions" for traffic congestion are a special lane on the interstate for rich people "Choice Lanes", and a special tunnel under the interstate for rich people.

Anyone know the claim for total people/hour claimed for the Boring tunnel in Nashville? I've seen everything from 5,000/hour to 20,000. My back of napkin math says that would require over 1,000 cars. I'd like to see Gov. Lee admit that if this happens, it's just for a few rich people per day.
