As for the script working against someone, Aliens manages to do something almost impossible. Create a character so terrible that even Bill Paxton can't save it. Completely destroys any chance of me taking the movie seriously.

I was talking about this with a friend just the other day. Terminator and Alien are perfect in their grim horror, and Terminator 2 and Aliens tried to inject a bunch of wackiness that just doesn't work for me.

Also, Furlong just can't act. Every seen with him is a chore to get through.
