Citizen Sleeper: A much more recent pick, its themes really stuck with me and made me reevaluate my life after I played it.
Fossil Fighters: My second childhood love behind Pokemon, I played the hell out of the first two games. Fossil Fighters 1 is peak, made me love dinosaurs and alien women.
Danganronpa: If I never watched a playthrough of the fan translation years and years ago I would have not met any of my friends or experienced even half of what the last 10 years have brought me. I may have mixed feelings about the series nowadays, but I will forever have a special place for DR1.

game I ever bought a physical copy of the soundtrack for.
Awakening: My favorite game, period. Iβve 100% completed it, I adore it to death. The characters and world mean so much to me.
Zero Time Dilema: My first Uchikoshi game. Dudeβs crazy. I loved it even with no context for whatβs happening.
the mystery genre as a whole, which has largely lead me to the path Iβve gone on. AAI2 I think is the peak of the series, I still need to play the official translation.

I've been so offline lately, what is this "you draw for yourself? lol, hope you enjoy not getting seen" thing??
You can draw for yourself and also resonate with many others (β ββ α΄β ββ βΏβ )
When I draw true to myself, I get plenty of support from the people who matter!! Have fun!!!

Itβs a huge shame to say after how I still feel the first game is an absolute masterpiece, but I do not recommend picking up this game, at least not for the price it is.
If it goes on sale for like $10 bucks or something then sure, but as it is, it just isnβt worth it.
You donβt have to make the story chronological, but making it a streamlined experience so you could have guaranteed how you wanted us to experience it instead of trying to account for all potential possibilities of play order would have strengthened this story a lot.
03.03.2026 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just at the very least whether jumping from multiple POVβs or sticking to a singular one, just do not let us the player dictate when plot elements are revealed. They would shave so much recapping time that way, and also trust us to read the files ourselves.
03.03.2026 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Were it up to me, I wouldnβt let us see Satoβs POV at all, have her thoughts and actions seem all the more mysterious and then she can reveal them as time went on. Truthfully, I wouldnβt even want to have Yuzaβs POV, but that might be hard to accomplish with spirit Yuza being our player stand in.
03.03.2026 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Having to use the βI pretended not to know anythingβ card on at least four separate occasions just as an excuse to hide things from the player in their internal monologue is a terrible excuse in my opinion. If youβre that worried about it, just DONβT have us play as those characters!

Admittedly I did think interacting with Sobae on the title screen was actually a very fun idea, that part was a cool interaction.
Ultimately, I feel like this game suffered by the fact the player can control when they do things. This was written like a linear narrative, so let it be one!
In this game, that was never the case, everything was resolved by picking a different scenario outcome within the scene itself, so at no point did you ever feel obligated to think in that way. Also we only needed to do that was so Sato would put the scale in the box, WHICH SHE KNEW TO DO ALREADY.
03.03.2026 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In the first game you had to do meta things relatively early on in order to get through the normal portion of the story, like with the foot-washing ghost where you have to turn off your audio. That made it so when you had to do things like that again in the true ending, you expected it.
03.03.2026 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is on top of the bullshit you need to do to unlock the true ending, specifically checking the load menu. The hint the Storyteller gives you still doesnβt indicate that, and at no point previously in the game did you have to do any meta puzzle solving and thus feel primed to do it again.

But then all of a sudden youβre revealed that they fell in love and chose to want to spend the next 800 years together after knowing each other for A MONTH?
What an insane decision, not helped by the game actively tries to justify the age difference by saying Sato just acts like sheβs 17 still.
The only hint before then that Yuza and Sato are even potentially involved is the fact that Yuza wants to find a mermaid in two days which we learn is when sheβs going to die. However, thereβs no point in which it is implied to be because theyβre in love and you instead just assume theyβre friends.

Everything from this point on will be spoilers, so donβt read on if you plan to play it yourself!
The fact that they shove an entire romance subplot in as the main motivation for Yuzaβs route that they reveal only at the very end of the normal ending is a horrible decision in my opinion.
Iβve gone and gotten the true ending. After thinking on it, my stance remains the same, this game needed to be presented in a different way.
I honestly liked the normal ending far more than I did the true ending, just because of how they refused to present key elements for the ending earlier.
Iβm doing the true ending tomorrow so Iβll save any posts about the plot itself for their own separate post and tag spoilers properly. However, I donβt think thereβs anything that could be shown that would have me change my mind about how everything else has been presented thus far.

Tl;dr: Trying to recreate the gameplay established in the first game is actively working against the plot because it would be better served as a linear narrative from one POV.
They could have made it work with it, but the order it was presented would have had to been heavily reconstructed.
Been playing The Mermaidβs Curse, and I have some mixed feelings about it. I like the overall narrative on display, but my complaints can be lumped together in one statement:
This game would be much better if it wasnβt a Paranormasight.
I explained why with no spoilers in the screenshots below.
