heh… I didn’t expect the, “How-to make furry art with 1989 Deluxe Paint” panel at Vancoufur to be packed, lol…

I really like orels' Shader Generator.

It seems like the right foundation to start building Fast Fur v6.0 on...

B.C. to end time changes, adopt year-round daylight time | CBC News March 8 will be the last time British Columbians have to change their clocks, B.C. Premier David Eby announced Monday.

Hooray!

My preference would have been to go to permanent Standard Time, but I’m okay with this compromise if that’s what it took to make it finally happen.

I remember everyone in my school bailing on first season TNG after yet another holodeck and/or Wesley Crusher (ie. Gene Roddenberry self-insert) saves the day episode.

Then one day my friend tells me, “actually, it’s really good now,” and lo and behold he was right.

I apologize for coming across as a “hater”.

My post was intended as a lighthearted jab regarding my Star Trek loving friend having an existential crisis with each new episode.

It certainly has me curious as well.

There seems to be a particularly huge rift between those who love it (ex. Rotten Tomatoes critics) and those who hate it (ex. IMDB audience score), I’m interested in watching at least a few episodes to find out why.

I'm not sure I follow this logic, but I suspect it's because I have a case of the "olds".

As a teen, we had Star Trek: The Next Generation, and we hated that Wesley Crusher was a transparent attempt to pander to us.

Do teens today really need "morning wood" and "I swallowed my comm badge" jokes?

If somebody you love is a Star Trek fan, I encourage you to do a wellness check every thursday evening.

I've only seen clips, but from what I have seen/heard, Starfleet Academy is so bad that it's doing to Star Trek fans what Season 8 of Game of Thrones did to its fan base.

Yeah, mine is going back as well. It seems like a decent headset, but the image quality is just not as good as I’d been led to believe.

I managed to find the "sweet spot", where the lenses were lined up perfectly with my eyes, and then the image was much better. However it was still not close to the clarrity of my Quest Pro.

I suspect the smaller lenses of the Bigscreen Beyond are just less forgiving of my wonky eyes.

This review for the documentary was so ridiculous that I had to turn it into a video. Enjoy

Thanks for the info! I'll play around with the IPD and see if I can get it dialed in better.

When you get it dialed in, does it look sharp for you everywhere, or just in the centre?

I'm only getting the middle ~20% sharp, the rest has heavy chromatic abberation. My Quest Pro is basically the opposite, with the middle ~80% sharp, and only minor chromatic abberation around the edges.

Hooray! My Bigscreen Beyond arrived!

but… um… the visuals look like crap?

I think I need to get my eyes checked. Everything I’ve read says it should look better than my Quest Pro.

Maybe they got my prescription wrong?

Oh, and the envelope contains a “Jelly of the Month” certificate, which is a distraction so that he doesn’t immediately notice the cheque for a percentage of this year’s shader sales.

My co-worker has been super-supportive of me making my shader.

He trained to be a graphic artist, but we both ended up working desk jobs in HVAC.

He’s been adamantly refusing payment from me for the GUI icons he made, so tomorrow I force him to accept this “Christmas Bonus” (it’s a Steam Deck).

The “but” in this statement from the new Mozilla CEO, justifying his “the people yearn for more AI” vision for Firefox’s future, seems like an odd choice of words.

Why not “and”?

Why the implication that honesty must be balanced against being fast and modern?

Congrats! +1 wisdom, but you also have to roll for a “getting old” de-buff.

Maybe you’ll get some one of the good ones, like being able to predict the weather based on which joints are hurting.

Maybe it keeps going, and you can just keep dividing it in half indefinitely. Zeno’s cushion, if you will…

I love the feeling of realizing that a “quick fix” will now take 10 hours, because years ago some programmer typed “private” out of habit, rather than “public”.

Fast Fur V5.1.0 is officially released!

I actually added a whole bunch of new stuff, but the one feature EVERYBODY wants is the new Light Volumes support, lol...
