I thought it had to be the Appalachians. I’m from OR/WA but thru hiked the AT thru there in 2001. Loved it. And actually hiking along the ridges in the Smokies and south/north of them reminded me a lot of the Cascades ridges of southern Washington. Similar elevations and steepness and forest cover.

I grew up on Archie comics in the 70’s but somehow had no idea this song was the Archies.

To be fair i’ve been to a lot of shows where the local openers are hugely popular locally/regionally and often headline their own shows, and the phenomenon of their fans not sticking around for the big touring act is real.

Practically a stone’s throw from the Chipita Park house i spent my middle and high school years in, in the 80’s. I don’t live in Colorado now, but dang, would love to see this. Hmmm… only 20 hour drive-time from where i am now.
