Toad A Hole for me too. I moved around a lot as a kid so I can’t say I’m from anywhere or even remember where I learned about this. My mother doesn’t like eggs so she never made it for me.

Normally my “undercooked” fried egg is part of a sandwich but this is Toad In A Hole. The youngest child will sometimes make the other Toad In A Hole for me.

No Dice – released today in 1970 on Apple – likely is the best album Badfinger ever made. Produced by Geoff Emerick & Mal Evans, “No Matter What” & “Without You” got much attention (especially when Nilsson recorded the latter in 1971) but “We’re for the Dark” & “I Can’t Take It” are also splendid.

Most of Lou Reed’s (1942-2013) music had a New York City flavor, but it didn’t get much more Big Apple than his Transformer lp – released today in 1972. Produced by the stellar duo of David Bowie & Mick Ronson, the album (improbably) had a charting single – “Walk on the Wild Side” (#16 pop, U.S.).

It’s a key album in the group’s evolution but is frequently overlooked in their catalog. Meddle (released in the U.S. today in 1971) marked a notable moment in Pink Floyd retooling its approach to songwriting & playing – which would bear more fruit on future albums. “Echoes” is Meddle’s high point.
