I fled Twitter, just like you. NE England to Yorkshire via Japan. I'm intercontinental when I eat French toast.

6th cinema trip of 2026, and Send Help is the most fun time I've had in the cinema so far this year. V recommended.

Amazon Prime, a paid for streaming service that spends millions on its own content, cuts to adverts with less elegance than the ITV Player showing an old game show.

The Prestige only gets better the more I see it. For me his best Inception. But he's not been particularly great for at least the last decade.

I've seen a bit of The Prisoner ,(and been to Port Merion, which is really special). Am not that attached to the show so wouldn't object to to him adapting it. It's a great concept and usually he's a great director. It just seems he's getting way too up himself lately.

There are no proper scenes! No drama! It cuts frantically between half-scenes across timescales. Florence Pugh comes and goes in a blink of an eye. I hoped when Matt Damon turned up it would settle down but not really. None of it is interesting or entertaining. I have no will to continue.

So does Oppeheimer get better after the first hour or is it three hours of half scenes intercut with sparklers (Only good bit: Tom Conti as Einstein, tho would be much better if joined by daughter Nina and Monkey)?

Hardly ever watch Newsnight but I put Newsnight on for five minutes last night and it looks like we'll have a new Prime Minister real soon 🫀

Different Jennifer Jason Leigh roles

Different Jennifer Jason Leigh roles

An actress who never misses?

Jennifer Jason Leigh, Happy Birthday 2/5/1962.

From teen sweetheart to tough-as-nails badass to girl next door to fast-talking comedienne to haughty bitch, Leigh never takes the easy road.

Incredibly daring film resume from incredibly versatile actress.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

Fired up my old Xbox 360, unconnected to the interweb, to have a wander around Skyrim for the first time in 4 years. Noticed that it was saving games with the date 2005. When I went to change the date in the settings the years stopped at 2025 so it had gone back to the earliest!

I love camping, as long as it's between June and August (too cold once the sun goes down otherwise).

Brian Wilson was a musical genius. Are there any left? In pop, which equates genius with innovation, recent artists have not pioneered new forms like those from the 60s. Has the digital age sidelined invention and promoted the derivative for ever?
