BREAKING: A wonderful speech from Green Party's Hannah Spencer after winning the Gorton and Denton by-election.

Congratulations!

What we have seen in Gorton and Denton is what we saw in Caerphilly in October.

A lot of people really don’t want the hateful politics of Reform and will work hard and smart to try and keep them out.

Labour must now listen to this and stop the grim attempts to mimic Farage.

The choice is impeachment and removal or calamity for the United States. I don't see how anybody watching Trump's speech in Davos can draw any other conclusion. He's a senile madman.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed on the β€˜shop floor’. Most hospital managers have taken some learning from strikes. The problem is of course that having that amount of senior input available 24/7 is £££. And many of us of a certain age would rather retire than go back to working shifts.

Shelling out? Easter eggs in the UK are smaller but pricier this year Chocolate treats reduced in size or weight as higher price of cocoa drives new wave of β€˜shrinkflation’

OK.. so this is very much first world problems but rising chocolate prices are driven by poor harvests due to anthropogenic climate change. And yet most of the press continues to lie and gaslight us on the costs and need for β€˜net zero’. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Getting off US tech: a guide I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!

Britain left the EU because people told us we had greater security and financial relationships with the USA.

Happy now?

A picture is worth 1000 words...

This appeared on the BBC News today, showing the increase in solar electric generation in the UK.

Not sure who produced it, but genuinely think this is a genius piece of scientific communication - the construct and choice of colour scale is near-perfect.

Chapeau!

Bluesky has felt sleepy for a while now. I want to encourage everyone to post more. Text is fine, but you know what? People enjoy damn near any picture of something neat. Food, your bike, a cat, whatever. Also, liking is nice, but reposting is what actually helps exposure.

Time for our government to stop pandering to this fascist administration and realign with the EU (and rejoin if possible). History is not going to judge the appeasers well here.

Thanks for doing the hard work here. Have seen this paper touted around on various fora. A cursory read brought up several methodological red flags. Then I looked at the authorship and timing of publication and the penny dropped. It’s more fabricated nonsense from an emerging fascist dictatorship.

America! What a complete train wreck. So sorry to all US people on here.

And to think we feted, wined and dined the orange rapist last week.

The vaccine and tylenol thing was awful but that UN speech was pure hate and bile.

And people want that in the UK….

Wales’s 20mph speed limit has cut road deaths. Why is there still even a debate? Research suggests the scheme may be more popular than thought, with consultations dominated by a loud minority

Why is there ANY debate? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

20mph in Wales meant about 100 fewer people killed or seriously injured in a year.

This kind of talk is going to lead to many unnecessary deaths.

Does the news have a radicalising impact on others?

By nature I am a fairly boring Centrist Dad. An anti-Iraq War Blairite.

But Trump, Musk, Jenrick, Farage etc make me want to sing the Internalionale and man the barricades.

The same effect as reading the Daily Mail.

Had a hairy run down London Road this evening dodging buses and illegally parked cars.

London Rd is crying out for protected cycle lanes. It carries a lot of cycle traffic to two big hospitals and the University.
