maintaining this line has nothing to do with “the science,” its just a way of implicitly stating the position that trans people arent real. so, while adults are allowed to make mistakes such as transitioning, children must be barred from accessing transition care at all costs

drawing a line at 18yo on whether trans healthcare is scientifically justified is incoherent. if transition works for trans adults then it works for trans kids. if you decide trans youth dont have enough scientific justification for existing then fundamentally you dont believe trans adults do either

there is already a solid evidence base for trans youth specifically, but even if there wasnt *trans adults exist and we all used to be kids*

HRT medications are generally far safer than eg. paracetamol, which is widely available from supermarket shelves in the UK and incredibly cheap. Also we shouldn’t need “counselling” to get them; they should be available without prescription as they are in many other countries
