thing is we know each other like forever and usually we get along very well but the shipping situation was always a major issue. i'm so glad they finally talked to me and apologized about being so nasty and an old fart bc of my ships and the things i love (zo).

very good news regarding my friend.
we had a very long, very deep talk and they finally opened up. i know now what's wrong and why they were so kaka towards my ships.
that being said they value our friendship more, thankfully, and told me they will deal with their issues like an adult from now on.

these are exactly some of the people that don't rly get the spirit of fandom in general and are just out here "collecting" other people so that they can grow their following as if they were instagram models or some bullcrap. COVID made every space worse thanks to the "normies" imo...

i want to say is either talk to people like an adult or block and move on like an adult.
not to sound dramatic but life is hard and others just want to enjoy their hobbies.
it's a waste of time and resources to put work into hating another shipper. those are the worst non-sharers imo.

a big reason is jealousy. and some even give those "everyone needs to know me as THE [NPC] shipper" vibes and they actually just look for people to stroke their egos or don't care for others.
maybe it's easier for some to be toxic bc it's the internet and you don't see the person like you would irl.

that being said, it's fine to block other shippers if you don't want to see their content or if it hurts you to see 'your' NPC with another OC. people rly need to learn curating. it's 2025. curate your stuff and stop being nasty.

i genuinely think that many NPC shippers aren't aware of the yumeshipping etiquette. NPC ships fall in a similar catergory. there's sharing and non-sharing, so if someone is non-sharing usually they block others who ship the same character as they do.
it'd just be nice if they'd learn the etiquette.
