A comedy play written by Elizabeth Polewheele, one of the first women to write for the stage, and dedicated to Rupert, who loved the theatre.

Considering the prince was in a long-term relationship with Margaret Hughes, one of the first actresses on the stage, Polewheele perhaps knew her too.

She describes herself as 'an unfortunate younge woman' and understands Rupert was 'haunted [by] poetick divills' like her.
The prince has a mind 'so bright and glorious' and encouraged by his light she decided to throw her 'foolish modesty' aside with a boldness that did not 'become a virgin'.

Opens with a dedication to Jane Lane (Lady Fisher of Packington Hall) who had helped Charles II escape in 1651.
Mary Trye followed her father, Thomas O'Dowde, into medicine.
