This has now reminded me of the day I was marched out of the Telegraph offices midway through unpaid work experience. Just because I didn’t go in one day having been offered a day’s pay drawing a cartoon for a bar. The woman who kicked me out was sacked a month later.

Two offers in one afternoon.

Ha. Even the "Make a complaint" link doesn't work. Now I have to go to an O2 shop to sort it because you cannot phone anyone at Virgin Media.

Currently being bullied in Virgin Media's chat. I'm only on there because Virgin's website never opens the page for renewing a contract.

Maybe. I just haven’t the bandwidth or even the will. The host runs A LOT of properties in the same area so it took some trawling to eventually find a place that had what we wanted and wasn’t hosted by her.

You’d think paying hundreds of pounds and leaving the house in perfect condition would be enough, but review and ratings culture is what drives this industry now. It’s exhausting.

Amazing that you can have an AirBnB booking rejected because you failed to review your last stay with the same host. Especially considering that visit was to help my girlfriend’s seriously ill mum. This time we’re back for the funeral. Leaving a rating hasn’t been high on my priorities, y’know.

BTW the record company I worked for refused to send Mrs Hawkins a complimentary copy so I bought one from our warehouse and sent it myself.

I was sorting through old letters a while ago and found this postcard from Doreen Hawkins. I had designed a CD cover that used a photo of her late husband, Jack, and she was graceful enough to grant permission. So happy to have rediscovered this.
