I think I'm getting sick. Just before Halloween. On the first time I've had plans to do something for Halloween in 23 years. Was supposed to be a big milestone event for multiple reasons.

Got a couple old games thrifting yesterday! Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future (PS2), and for PC I snagged the original Black & White and Rollercoaster Tycoon! B&W has been something I've actually been looking for again for years too!

Sorry for being kinda MIA lately! Don't have a job atm but with everything going on and everything I'm trying to juggle it feels like I have 3 fulltime jobs! There's never enough hours in the day but things are going good! Getting healthier and making progress in life!

Looking forward to diving into Deadly Premonition 2, still! It's newer so maybe it won't have as many issues running on modern hardware? 1 I had to apply like 3 fixes before I could even PLAY it...

Deadly Premonition was an awesome game!

Except for the end. Apparently I had a camera bug the entire game, but it was manageable to deal with until... the final shot at the final boss. Literally the last couple seconds of the fight.

Had to watch the ending on youtube.... :c

Another great haul out thrifting. A lot of new clothes this weekend, and the big prize is a TNG era phaser replica that lights up and makes sounds. Basically a weak, noisy flashlight that can clip onto my clothes or belt lol

Got some neat loot this weekend. Star Trek TNG comic from 1990 written by John De Lancie, and a christmas ornament of the Defiant from DS9.

Not having much luck on the gaming front but been a good few weeks for Star Trek stuff.

The AI bubble can't pop fast enough. It needs to die out like NFTs.

I really want to play Minecraft again but I need to find a server that'll be up for a while with people who'll hold interest in it long term >.< I don't want to be alone after a week

Gonna stream the Deadly Premonition games for Spooky month. Dunno if i'll go back into hiatus mode after or not. Will figure that out as I go.

What retro RPG should I play next?

Also because the tiles take up so much space, i have to scroll a lot more to view the same amount of games, potentially aggravating my wrist issues just to look through the store.

The new steam store page is abysmal. When I'm searching through listings... I can fit a whole 4 and a half game listings on my screen because of large layered tiles in the list. My most hated modern UI is large tiles and wasted space and IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE.

I saw those but I never used them! Family just wanted to get food and go usually lol.

I don't really know what gaming stuff to really talk about lately. Like yeah I still game but it hasn't felt like a focus, y'know? Playing some GW2, Hades 2, and FF14 but like. Everything else is taking the priority.

So, Hades 2 is quite good, actually.

I mean I figured it would be because the first was but full release of 2 has been great.

TLDR, gifted kid burnout sucks and the American school system has failed me and probably many others in this regard.

To this day, I find it hard to even *try* to learn new skills because of this. If I'm not immediately perfect, I don't know how to handle it. I get so frustrated with myself because that's the expectation adults in my life always put on me. I had to be perfect. I wasn't allowed failure or help.

The older I get the more I forget, and the harder it is to even 'memorize' things. I fell behind in life because the schools never taught me anything. They just propped me up on a pedestal because I made them look good and then ignored me.

I'd just be handwaved away because i was 'smart'. I'd be fine. Instead of getting help i was just given platitudes. "You can do anything, you're smart, you'll be fine'. But that was a lie. Being good at test taking does nothing to prepare you for adult life.

Because I was good at memorization and testing, I never really learned the skills I'd need in adulthood. I never learned to learn, to adapt. While everyone was focused on the needs of those with poor grades, which yes it's good they got the help they needed, I also needed help and never got it.

The school system failed me as a kid.

I was always a 'smart' kid. Put in gifted programs, AP classes, etc. Until I wasn't. Got pulled from things during my later years of high school and got kinda brushed off.

But the problems started much earlier.

Hot take, I think we should return to the era of makeup and prosthetic effects for aliens and stuff in sci fi rather than cgi,especially since cgi has gotten so incredibly expensive and limits opportunities (and the abuse of animators). Bring back goofy farscape puppets
