Pre-covid days, I would say Columbia and GISS were particularly aggressive interrupters. zoom mellowed us
It rubbed off on me- (sentimentally reminiscing) esp the crowded, boisterous precovid days of the old guys going after one another mid-seminar.
This is the equivalent of being interrupted during a presentation on something that is literally two slides down the road.
Personally, I prefer live talks for that very reason-- it is what separates engaging with people from simply speaking from a platform (video, or whatever).
The shielding from cars on the highway remains the guard rail and some green space.
Bsky edit purgatory- I said dot land not lanes.
No - there is a loophole in nyc law. Repairs on bike lanes on DOT land require a safe bypass.
But repairs on a parks owned greenway mean you are routed on to normal, bike lane free car streets.

I learned over the summer that CCNY doesnβt allow evehicles inside. Thatβs become true of SO many buildings.

Exactly!! The Cherry Walk has had to close down twice now for repairs. Taking one lane here would make allow safe repairs, too.
We were advocating for concrete bollards & a teeny bit of asphalt to connect to the front of the Riverside/119th tennis courts (already a desire-line ped toe path).
Anyone who bikes around here knows- the only way to get to the Columbia campus from here is up a steep hill. This ramp makes the uptown bike commute to Columbia not only safer, avoiding Broadway, the low grade of this ramp makes this part of the park ADA accessible for all wheeled users.

Every time, I passed this odd, super-long, two lane wide exit ramp at 125St, I wondered why it couldn't be half-a-bike lane.

Go my Bothriolepis... This year's fish pecan pie! Bothriolepis was a peculiar-looking placoderm from the Devonian period or the Paleozoic. It had two long pointed pectoral fins and silly little eyes on top of its head.
