Had a brilliant time this past Sunday at the Noel Park Festival. Great to connect with @haringeyfoe.bsky.social, the Haringey @veoliauk.bsky.social team and @haringeycyclists.bsky.social. All doing fantastic work to make our neighbourhood greener. A wonderful reflection of the Wood Green community.

In celebration of South Asian Heritage Month, I pay tribute to Narendra Makanji, a former Wood Green councillor and passionate campaigner for equalities. His legacy lives on amongst us, alongside the remarkable contributions of the South Asian diaspora who shaped and continue to shape our community.

Meet Connie Bennet 💙

She arrived from Manila, Philippines in 1970 to train at Westminster School of Nursing. Connie went on to work in the NHS for 46 years, retiring as a Practice Nurse in Enfield & Haringey.

Today marks 77 years of the NHS, a beacon of care, compassion, and community since 1948. Built on fairness: healthcare for all. Thank you to all the staff, then and now. Here’s to a future where that vision thrives.

This London Pride, I carry the Haringey spirit and march for LGBTQI+ rights, standing in solidarity against the ongoing challenges and setbacks, especially facing the trans+ community, both in the UK and worldwide.

It was truly an honour - also by that I became Britain’s second out gay Mayor, the first being the darling Bob Crossman from Islington.

Great news that social homes will now be exempt from the Right to Buy scheme for 35 years. A much-needed move to ensure more affordable housing stays available for those who need it.

📒This year marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Black Parents Movement (BPM), founded in 1975 following the arrest of an innocent West Indian student in Haringey. To commemorate this occasion, we have published an article all about the BPM on our website.
