My name is Graham Platner and I’m running for US Senate to defeat Susan Collins and topple the oligarchy that’s destroying our country.
I’m a veteran, oysterman, and working class Mainer who’s seen this state become unlivable for working people. And that makes me deeply angry.

BLUNT WRITING QUOTE #011

Three panel comic:
1st panel: Two crudely drawn stick men:
Stick man 1: to make art that is popular you have to be really good at drawing
2nd panel:
stick man 2: but if that’s true
3rd panel: both characters are looking at a spot beneath the comic (where the likes are)
Stick man 2: why does this comic have thousands of likes?
“i have to use AI because i’m bad at drawingggg 😭😭😭”

A special shout out that companies don't pay because the ONE PERSON in charge of issuing payments is on vacation. (This happens more than you think)
Totally cool for companies to have no solution for this. I'll just wait, go have fun. Tell that to my lapsed healthcare

My Tenth Worldcon…
So, Seattle 2025. here's a con report starting with an introductory bracket and ending with a closing bracket. We begin with a scheduled pre-con visit by two houseguests, Mark Roth and Ellen Montgomery, who arrived in Bellingham at 5 PM on the Monday before the con, stressed out and tired from a cross-country train trip filled with... adventures. I set out a light supper of risotto and caprese sandwiches (ripened-on-the-vine REAL toamtoes, mozarella, and fresh crusty bread) and Mark wanted to know where he could leave a glowing review for the restaurant.

So... they don't have "natural" artistic talent... and they just want to fake being thought of as an artist. Ye gods and little fishes. Find something to do that comes more "naturally", people, and leave the arts to those people who have been BUILDING THEIR TALENT BY WORKING AT IT FOR A LIFETIME...

Well, home from #worldcon - cats fed, unpacking (closely supervised by both cats post breakfast) mostly accomplished, enough so for the necessary laundry to be set up and that is now running. I need to deal with some other stuff but at the moment I'll just stick to seeing to the accumulated email...

Space girl
Giant alien
Tired Klingon
At worldcon, for a little while longer. Have a space girl, a gigantic alien, and a somewhat exhausted Klingon ("today is a good day to rest..")

I DO NOT AND NEVER WILL use AI for anything to do with my writing. The stuff that's good is my own 'good', pure 100% human; and I will own any errors too. If I make any *I * will have made them. Not a computer.

Con ribbons

1) I have the longest stack of ribbons I may ever have had at any con and they keep trying to fly apart which is annoying. I am about to try duct tape.
2) only have two more social and one more programming obligations left... and then i have to find a way out of Seattle and go home somehow...

Unsolicited Writing Advice, no. 3214566:
Trying to follow writing trends is usually a waste of time. By the time you can see them, they're over. Instead, just write what you love. Write it as well as you can, and wait. Don't be afraid to be different. One day, maybe, you'll be the trend.

Alex Padilla just made a point that I don’t think anyone else has made:
Trump calling Abbott and asking him for 5 more Republican seats is no different than him calling the Georgia Secretary of State to ask for 11,000 more Republican votes.
