Anyway, be wary of anyone who pulls the “as we all know, the internet is terrible” lever, because a lot of them just want you to shut up, or they’ve been duped by those that do.

A lot of the people who blame screens really just don’t like a world where they can be routed around, made unimportant, because we can simply talk to each other directly. And those people do not have our best interests at heart.

Life online can be bad just like any human community relationship can be bad, but the blame for that lies primarily in the companies and the CEOs who make terrible decisions, not the users who have little control, and certainly not the internet itself.

I don’t know why I bother fighting the pervasive idea that “online = bad” but it’s like the last shred of my humanity that remembers the world before this and it wasn’t better it was just more gatekept.
