i'm very bad at synchronicity because it's very complex.
apparently, my fix 6 months ago was to check the validity of all actors in the turn_manager, and if one of them turns out to be dead but still receiving turn_managing benefits, to pause the whole thing for a delay, check everyone, then resume
The crown was supposed to go next but since it all got resolved in the turn of an enemy that just died, the "do_turn" shoots twice and the two next monsters play simultaneously, skipping the player's turn and making everything explode ; this is so unserious
08.03.2026 14:32 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0the warden plays first, and since there's a 1 tile gap he doesnt feel like crossing, he shoots a beam at the novitiated, leaving it with 2hp. The novitiated plays then, attacks the crown, which detonates, inflicting 2 dmg, which kills the novitiated.

this is a Very Cursed interaction:
the active sigil is the Sigil of Hatred, meaning enemies hate enemies from other Essences (demons, spectres, etc). The Warden (bottom right) hates the Novitiated (hat guy), who hates the Fulminant Crown (top left). All is well.
the good news is whatever is the "whatever" i've written 6 months ago, it does in fact cure the illness my turn_manager node seems to be suffering from, and I'm tempted not to push the issue further

still thinking of the creative & bullshit ways the splash Stamp can affect spells: what happens when you add splash to teleport?
#godot #indiedev
here's how and why:
I'm reworking how Splash works in Isoterick. I want the "splash" stamp to extend the basic effects of the spell, so how does that translate to a spell that destroys a tile? I figured the best solution was "it destroys them a little". The ground now has hit points
#Godot #indiedev
i will draw the line before adding romancing systems
05.03.2026 16:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0it could also happen with bombardiers once the Cataclysm that makes their attacks destroy a tile activates, but honestly now that the ground has health (!) i think i need to both add more ways to damage it, and more ways to travel across chasms
05.03.2026 16:19 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0oh no i could completely be arsed, i just never thought of it! but i somewhat like the idea of "you've made your bed, now sleep in it"

i have determined after many observations and wise calculations that the ground has 3 hp
