from that list, I would have gone with DeVries or Smith. Golden and Gates got SEC gigs that cycle. Kelsey was known to be choosy (worked out well for him) and I don't think he could remotely fake liking the Steelers/Pirates. love Medved, but he was gonna go back to Minnesota the second it came open

in my last year on the Pitt beat in 2022, when there was some chatter Jeff Capel might get fired (his buyout was too pricey), I put together a list of candidates for the job. some meh options, two that wouldn't have happened (Golden and Gates), but strong overall group

I'm sorry, Pitt fans

I don't think Shedeur's that great, and the people who cape the hardest for him are loons, but it's astonishing that he was behind Dillon Gabriel for as long as he was on the depth chart. he's very clearly better

I genuinely don't understand what a catch in the NFL is anymore

bummer of a result for the Ravens, especially since that was a touchdown catch from Likely

it also doesn't help this his wide receivers stink and have hands made of stone

A lot of it's because he's obviously playing hurt, but Lamar's just been flat-out bad the past few weeks

Louisville's 8-4. they're not a bad team. if a loss disqualifies one of the bubble teams, it should have been Alabama losing to FSU

I know there's handwringing about conference championship games, but if Alabama would have gotten in and Miami been left out, you're basically saying Week 1 results don't matter

07.12.2025 17:44 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Miami getting left out would have been the most unjustifiable of the three bubble teams. glad to see the Canes made it

I think they'd rather piss off the ACC than the SEC or ND. they can always just tell the league they ended up there because of their stupid tiebreaker rules and, honestly, it wouldn't be the worst argument. personally, I'd put ND and Miami in. accelerate the death of conference title games

Is Diego Pavia the greatest winner in college football history? The Vanderbilt quarterback has lifted up two of the traditionally worst programs in the FBS, carving out a niche few in the sport's history can match

I made the argument in this week's newsletter that Diego Pavia's the greatest winner in college football history. basically the player equivalent of Bill Snyder

also delved into Jeff Landry being full of shit and whether UMass is the worst FBS team of the past 20 years

it's as insane as it is depressing that we've gotten to this point. one of my buddy's grandfathers served in Europe in WWII and helped liberate a camp. he could never bring himself to talk about it much because he said the thought of what he saw scarred him more than anything else he saw in the war

kinda wonder if he figures Deion will retire soon and he may get promoted to HC if his offense plays well enough next season

every time I see a video of the Palantir CEO saying something awful, I get bummed for a second thinking it's Taika Waititi, like ah man, he seemed so cool. I loved Jojo Rabbit

then I remember it's this fucking guy

can't say I'm all that surprised about them whiffing on Brohm. she was at Penn State by the time he was hired, but Neeli was pretty widely despised in the Louisville athletic department during her tenure there

Kenny Payne with a really moving tribute to his time at Louisville tonight by never getting up from his seat on the bench

been a bummer to see what RG3's become over the past couple of years. I genuinely enjoyed him when he first started doing games on ESPN. he was passionate, enthusiastic and insightful. now, he's just one of the thirstiest people on a thirsty platform

maybe he was always this way, but it still sucks

03.12.2025 17:06 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Jeff Brohm at Penn State would be fascinating mostly because he's Inverse James Franklin. wins a ton of big games, but also loses a bunch of games he has no business losing

y'all are gonna beat Ohio State every now and then. but then you'll follow it up with a loss to Minnesota

02.12.2025 20:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

if Penn State misses on Sitake and moves on to Jeff Brohm only a few days after Louisville's obvious replacement signed a deal with their archrival...whew buddy

has Matt Campbell told Penn State he wouldn't take their job or something? because he seems like a pretty obvious hire to me at this point
