I like growing things, the early morning walks with my dog, iced coffee, reading (shout out to the Libby app), music, and cooking. I'm a firm believer in treating people the way they treat others. I believe in equal rights for EVERY American.

The same guy telling you Portland is war-ravaged, told you Mexico was going to pay for the wall and people were eating your pets in Ohio.

Imagine being the guy trying to get comedians fired from networks, deploying troops into U.S. cities, defunding scientific research to cure cancer and other chronic diseases, calling for the AG in public to prosecute your enemies...

and thinking you deserve a Nobel Peace Prize.

As an American I agree.

Happy Juneteenth, to those who celebrate.

Double Happy Juneteenth to those who don't.

Good morning. πŸ™‚

Exactly. The Declaration of Independence talks about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. How people pursue their own happiness shouldn't be of concern to the government (or anyone else) as long as they aren't hurting anyone. That's supposed to be the American way.

So may your beautiful soul RIP Monty. 3/2011-4/7/2025. I love you my friend.

hemangiosarcoma. They often need to be put to sleep then and there. So yes, I was very lucky for that. And to have the opportunity to make some more happy memories with him. I was lucky just having that beautiful soul in my life for 14 years. And I am forever thankful, even though I grieve so hard.

his ears because he would always lay on me. I've loved every dog I've had, hell I love all dogs, but this guy was the dog of my ❀️.
I was lucky. I am in so many aspects of my life. I was lucky to have that last night and morning with him. Many don't get that when a dog is diagnosed with

I told that beautiful boy how much I love him and that I always will.
I miss him so much. Stupid little things, like eating cucumber salad or cottage cheese and remembering how I'd sneak him a bite because he loved it, just knock the breath out of me. Sitting on the couch, when my hand goes to rub

to do the euthanasia. I was so touched by that. It still brings tears to my eyes. I held my best friend as he passed away and for a while after. I let myself cry and I told my beloved Monty how lucky I was to have him, how honored I was that he chose me to be his person. How proud I was of him.

possibility of his spleen rupturing and I didn't want that to happen to him. I said that's fine. We loaded Monty on a board and rushed to the vet. Again he seemed ok when we got there. He got up to sniff around. But then he collapsed, I caught him before he hit the floor. Dr Dan was somehow able

him another dose of gabapentin and Yunnan Baiyao at 2:30 a.m. and we just stayed awake. Breakfast came at 5 and he ate and went potty. We didn't take a walk that morning. It was raining. The day before seemed like a bad dream. Everything seemed normal, but I knew it wasn't. Around 9:45 a.m. Monty

had our last night together. All the people he loves came to say goodbye. He had a cheeseburger, ice cream and all the treats he wanted. We snuggled and played. It was almost like none of it was happening. I didn't sleep much that night, mostly just looked at him as he dozed. It was time to give

We scheduled his euthanasia for the next afternoon. I wanted happy times for our last day, so I wouldn't let myself cry in front of him. Dr Dan had surgery scheduled for the morning, but would be able to do the euthanasia.
So the emergency doc gave some supplement that can stop bleeding and we

And then he was fine when we got there, but I knew something was wrong. Nothing slowed Monty down. The emergency vet did some blood work and an ultrasound which showed the mass on his spleen and spots in his liver. She said he had days to live and would recommend putting him down soon.

On Sunday April 6, Monty was unable to make it up the deck stairs to come back in from going potty. I didn't know what was wrong. I checked him over and couldn't find anything. I checked his gums and they were very pale. We got a board and laid him on it and took him to the emergency vet.

the doctor and he'd be sad. But when I'd say we're going to see Dr Dan, then it was ok.
What the blood work and UA didn't show is that Monty had hemangiosarcoma in his spleen, which had spread to his liver and likely his lungs. There was a noticeable change in his liver numbers 4 days later.

Monty had his 6 months vet appt 5 days before he passed. We had the usual blood work and exam and he passed with flying colors. Dr Dan said he was in excellent shape for his age. Monty didn't like going to the vet, but he really liked Dr Dan. I would give him a heads up and tell him we're going to

allow that. But when I was done he would nip at the Kleenex and want to eat it if he got it away from me. Weirdo. That used to make me laugh. He was a counter surfer right to the day he passed.

was offered. Rewarding bad behavior, I know. But it worked and he enjoyed it lol. We had a routine where I would brush his teeth, clean his ears, and check his paws. He loved getting his teeth brushed and was fine with his paws. But I would put a Kleenex on my finger to clean his ears and he would

when my ex had heart problems. He always seemed to sense something was wrong and wanted to be close to that person. He really was a beautiful soul.
I'm not going to lie and say Monty wasn't known for his shenanigans. He liked to steal socks and shoes and would not give them back unless a treat

He wanted to be running and playing all the time. But he met my husband's stepdad and just sat calmly by him for the last hour of the parade. They became good friends. He sensed things like that many times over the years. When my best friend lost her husband, when a very good friend died,

besides working. I used to joke that he was my bossy supervisor lol.
One thing I will always remember about Monty was his empathy. When he was still just a pup, only 4 months old, I took him to a parade. My husband's stepdad had been diagnosed with cancer the month before. Monty was a wild puppy.

Then we would come home, and Monty would sniff the entire back yard, check to see if his neighbor dog friends were out and come inside and get his treat. Then he'd jump up on the futon, get tucked and cozy for his big nap and I'd get to work. He would bark for me if I was doing something else

He had his own futon and a bird feeder outside the window so he could watch the birds. We would get up when my hubs alarm went off, he'd eat his breakfast, go potty, and then we'd take our morning walk. I'd usually let him lead the way so he could answer his pee mails from other dogs lol.

Our bond strengthened even more after that. I was amazed at his resilience. He wasn't going to let something like surgery to remove a tumor slow him down!
I was eventually able to start working at home full time and he would spend the day with me in my work room.

When he was 4 years old, Monty had a mast cell tumor on his rear leg. I was devastated. But our wonderful vet, Dr Gooch, was able to remove it all! It didn't slow Monty down at all. He was ready to run and play the next day. It was hard to keep him quiet to recuperate those 2 weeks.

He had a pool, a rope tied to a branch with a ball at the end. He loved that. We played Frisbee and fetch with his balls. He'd come visiting friends and family with me. He's been ice fishing a lot. He went a long to the post office every day. We'd go out to the conservation club for a good run.
