The pronoun practice we will have in queer utopia is *obviously* referring to everyone as "comrade"

Just realized analytic philosophy is not actually hard to define. Itโ€™s basically a specific set of dry geeky lore: fake barns, brains in vats, cleverly disguised zebras, swampmen, blockheads, a scientist who never saw red, etc. and then we write fanfic.

The Far Rightโ€™s Mission of โ€˜Protecting Minorsโ€™ From Online Porn Broke the Internet A new censorship infrastructure is being built right out in public.

My pet theory of "why do people think the economy is doing poorly despite unprecedented levels of wealth?" is because everyone knows they're getting shorted.

How to Organize Safely in the Age of Surveillance From threat modeling to encrypted collaboration apps, weโ€™ve collected expertsโ€™ tips and tools for safely and effectively building a groupโ€”even while being targeted and tracked by the powerful.

News you can use, from the @wired.com security team (who are the best in the biz).

They asked technologists, activists, aid groups, and cybersecurity experts for guidance on how to organize and collaborate in an age of surveillance. Hereโ€™s the result:

The correct attitude that one should take toward AI is as a left technocrat. Be relentlessly empirical about the powers and pitfalls of the technology, but do not forget the contingent material circumstances that shape its deployments.

Incidentally, I am a left technocrat.

My Prompt: "Write an article in the style of Tyler Austin Harper for The Atlantic on the Mellon Foundation, complete with headline and subhead."

Claude: "The Mellon Foundation's Billion-Dollar Bet on Who Gets to Interpret America

The nation's wealthiest humanities funder is reshaping higher education. But is it promoting genuine pluralismโ€”or just a new orthodoxy?

By Tyler Austin Harper

There's a particular species of institutional power that operates best when it remains invisible. The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with its $8 billion endowment and status as the nation's largest funder of the humanities, has perfected this art. While culture warriors fixate on tenured radicals and DEI administrators, Mellon quietly directs hundreds of millions of dollars toward reshaping who studies the past, who interprets literature, and ultimately, who gets to define American culture.
The foundation's recent trajectory reads like a case study in how progressive institutional capture actually worksโ€”not through dramatic confrontation, but through the patient accumulation of grants, fellowships, and faculty positions. Since 2020, Mellon has poured some $250 million into diversifying the humanities, funding everything from graduate fellowships for underrepresented minorities to initiatives demanding that museums "recontextualize" their collections. The explicit goal: to transform who holds authority in America's cultural institutions."

I mean, just look at this Tyler Austin Harper-style Atlantic article I can generate in a second with a naive prompt on the free tier of Claude!

Male refugees stigmatised across Europe: โ€˜This kind of stuff really hurtsโ€™ Several men who made dangerous journeys alone tell Al Jazeera they have faced suspicion, hatred and homelessness.

โ€œIn the asylum system, men transition from 17yo โ€˜vulnerable boyโ€™ to 18yo โ€˜threatening manโ€™ on their 18th birthday. This means: No housing, few support services & a perceptionโ€”from everyone, even humanitarian workersโ€”that โ€˜heโ€™ll be fine on the street for a bit, heโ€™s a man.โ€™ He wonโ€™t be fine.โ€
