It's good to see meetings like these are taking place and are reportedly very constructive.
Absolutely agree: there is a real need to amplify the voices of disabled people and not just be spoken about. πŸ‘†

Those involved in the Timms Review must be able to report back to their communities. That’s how we ensure credibility and accountability.

True co-production means listening to ALL Disabled people.

We support a pan-disability approach - one that reflects physical, sensory, cognitive, and psychological experiences. Co-production must be at the heart of the Timms review.

Sign up to support By signing up, you're adding your voice to a growing movement calling for Opportunity, Security and Respect for all Disabled people both in and out of work, without the constant fear of poverty & destitution.

Cuts to #PIP must be off the table.

The Timms Review should focus on removing barriers - not reducing support. Financial cuts are never the answer.

Disabled leadership matters.

We’re calling for at least one of the Timms Review’s co-chairs to be #Disabled. Representation at the top drives real change.

An alternative to PIP is proposed! πŸ‘€

This Disabled-led initiative highlights the deep flaws with PIP, which the commission says is β€œplagued by inaccurate decisions & a culture of mistrust” and β€œactively undermines” Disabled people’s participation in society.

β€œDisabled people are overwhelmingly locked out of work because workplaces aren’t accessible or supportive. Imagine how many lives would improve if employers were educated and held to account. THIS is the problem that needs addressing.” @campaignfdj.bsky.social

Employment support needs to be voluntary for Disabled people – taken up because it actually works, not because of threats and sanctions. ❌

Disabled People's Organisations are in the best position to shape & deliver these programs!

The Govt. has yet to fund & facilitate Disabled-led programs to educate employers who are failing to support Disabled employeesβ€”and failing to hire them in the first place.

7/7 Consult widely. Listen deeply. Work in partnership. This is how reviews into disability and employment can deliver the best outcome.

17.09.2025 14:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

6/7 Disabled leadership matters. We're calling for at least one of the review's co-chairs to be Disabled. Representation at the top is a huge factor in the change we could see from the review.

17.09.2025 14:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

5/7 Cuts must be off the table. The Timms review must focus on support and removing the barriers Disabled people face. Cuts to financial support are never the answer.

17.09.2025 14:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

4/7 Transparency is essential. Those involved in reviews must be able to report back to their communities. It's the only way to create trust, credibility and accountability.

17.09.2025 14:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

3/7 Disabled People's Organisations (DPOs) are essential to this process and should be fully involved in the Timms review. DPOs have vital expertise, grounded in lived experience, and a wealth of knowledge in understanding and supporting Disabled people's needs.

17.09.2025 14:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

2/7 True co-production means consulting a diverse group of Disabled people and shaping effective solutions. We support a pan-disability approach, one that recognises the full range of lived experiences, from physical and sensory to cognitive and psychological.

17.09.2025 14:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

1/7 Co-production must be at the heart of the Timms review. We are not looking for top-down consultation; co-production means a clear commitment to working in partnership with Disabled people to help shape decisions that affect our lives.

Disabled People's Organisations have the knowledge & lived experience to teach employers how to properly support Disabled people in work.

The Govt. could fund & facilitate these programs. The opportunity is ready and waiting for them to take it. Step up.

Removing barriers for Disabled people to get to work or school on time should be a no-brainer.

Being able to use a bus pass when you need it is not a big ask. It's hard to see the logic in this outcome, let alone compassion. 😞

The 10 members of the new Independent Disability Advisory Panel must sign an NDA that prevents them sharing any information outside the group.

Transparency is key to credibility. Why isn't a standard confidentiality clause enough for the DWP? 🀨

"We need more than lip service from this government around disability rights – we need to see real commitment and action. And that starts with the appointed representatives showing up and taking their responsibilities seriously." Our CEO @carolinejc.bsky.social comments.

The Disability Poverty Campaign Group (DPCG) are collecting evidence about people’s experiences of Access to Work. We are hearing that awards are being cut or refused with no explanation.

Any supporting evidence will help to compel the DWP to address these issues:

Access to Nowhere. The government says it wants more disabled people in work. Then why is it cutting the scheme that helps them stay there? Add your name.

"The DWP itself considers PIP fraud to be so minimal, it marks it at 0%."

Yet it is advertising covert surveillance roles to, in their words, "gather evidence to prove/disprove offences."

Medical knowledge? Training and understanding of the complexity of disability? Not in the ad.

As far as we know, Sir Stephen is still deciding what shape the Timms review will take & what co-production looks like. He has been engaging with orgs - we spoke to him a few weeks ago, too.
We have a window to show the Timms team how valuable co-production is for Disabled ppl AND the government. πŸ‘
