Today, ProPublica reports that Trump officials, including a White House lawyer and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security election integrity chief, met with election deniers pushing for a national emergency to take over the 2026 midterms.

Trump, seeking executive power over elections, is urged to declare emergency Activists who say they are in coordination with the White House are circulating a draft executive order that would unlock extraordinary presidential power over voting.

On Thursday, the Washington Post reported election deniers coordinated with the White House on a draft executive order claiming China interfered in 2020.

They want to use that as a pretext for a national emergency to give Trump power over elections.

The president has no constitutional authority to control state-run elections.

Declaring a “national emergency” does not create powers the Constitution and Congress never gave him.

Such an executive order would be challenged in court immediately.
