It correlates pretty closely to advances. If they have invested in a large advance, they will usually give that book the big marketing push.

A long line of cops in front of the Tesla dealership on 902 N. Rush Street in Chicago, after they made protesters move across the the street. Eventually there were at least 100 CPD officers protecting the dealership which had maybe 2-4 customers tops, from what I could tell. When I arrived at about 2:00 PM, there were about as many cops as protesters. Then people from the Women's Day march joined us and there were hundreds of protesters.
Today I saw a high level of anger at the massive number of cops that are protecting a Tesla dealership in Chicago. Lots of chants demanding to know why they are protecting Nazis. No one is letting CPD off the hook. This is what cops do - enable and participate in fascism. #Teslatakedown.

This Shocking Moment at a GOP Town Hall in Idaho Is a Foreboding Sign
Private, unidentified security personnel dragged a woman out of the event. It raises questions not just about tolerance for dissent, but also who gets deputized to do what.
I wrote about the very violent, very public detention of a woman for interrupting a speaker at the Kootenai County Republicanβs town hall on Saturday. In Idaho, the lines between Republican politics and political violence are thinner than they are in some places; this is a terrifying escalation.

Donald Trump or

Since day one, Elon has created chaos and confusion and put our

post from @h_lee_justine on threads:
AOC was just on live giving us advice of what to do and she had very specific instructions depending on if your reps were Dem or repub.
I'll share them but first things first you know l've been begging you to call your reps. AOC highlighted that is the BEST THING to do right now and that they really do listen when they get non stop calls. So please pledge to me that you're gonna make some calls tomorrow to both LOCAL AND DC OFFICES of your reps. Tell me below.
Now if your...
...rep is Democrat, she wants you to ask them to obstruct ALL CABINET PICKS until Elon is no longer committing illegal acts in the fed gov. It's the one power Dems have right now. Zero appointments, full obstruction until Elon is OUT! Ask for that Tom. Use the 5 calls app or website to make it easy. Again, LOCAL AND DC
Now if your rep is Republican, you're going to tell them that you will start looking for and campaigning for a challenger in their district this week if they don't act to...
...protect our data, the value of the US dollar, and integrity in our fed gov. She said she knows this seems like it won't do anything but to trust her, these people care. And they're hoping you get so complacent you're silent and they don't have to worry about re election.
If you have any kind of platform with a following, tell them you'll use that to campaign against them. If you're a part of a large community group, even just a community garden, tell them you'll tell everyone locally...
..what they are or aren't doing to protect us from the coup by Elon Musk. You know people in your community. You have a voice. Tell them specifically how you'll use it.
It matters guys. Everyone is scared right now. Apply pressure and tell everyone you know to
thread with @aoc.bsky.socialβs advice for this moment, and it involves calling your reps.
not sure how? use 5calls.org (they have an app too).

A quick resistance task:
1. Google Gulf of Mexico
2. βGulf of America" is the top
3. Click on the three little dots to the right of it
4. Select "Send Feedback"
5. Click on "Gulf Of America"
6. Select "Inaccurate content"
7. Select "Incorrect" and type in "The correct name is βGulf of Mexico"

A screenshot of Google's response to my feedback: "Thank you for submitting feedback for Gulf of America. Here's what you suggested for Gulf of America: 'The Gulf of Mexico has not been officially renamed by anyone with legitimate power to do so. You are obeying a fascist in advance. Don't capitulate to autocrats. It makes you look as though you support fascism.'"
Google the Gulf of Mexico. When incorrect search results appear, send Google your feedback! It's fun and only takes a few minutes. Just click on the three little dots and send them your thoughts.

Some readers do like to see whoβs recommending the book before they commit. I think blurbs help first books (mine was greatly helped by Scott Turow and Jodi Picoult) but a lot of blurbing seems unnecessary.

As long as the world is in chaos anyway, letβs wipe blurbs off the face of the earth. I have been the recipient of other authorsβ kindness (thank you all!) and I have tried to give help where I could, but blurbs are just advertising, and frequently ineffective.

I think we should all just stop doing blurbs. Donβt ask for them. Donβt give them. Same with letters of recommendation. Itβs all busywork.

Why Simon & Schusterβs Flagship Imprint Wonβt Require Blurbs Anymore
In a decision some might call βstunningβ or a βtour-de-force,β new S&S publisher Sean Manning has decided to no longer require authors to obtain blurbs for their books. Hereβs why.
the headline acts like this is a dramatic new thing but if you read the piece it is actually more like "we officially aren't going to require people to do something we already weren't officially requiring them to do" okay? cool?

Crushing fascism is actually an anti-fascist act, and often requires being just as aggressive as fascists are in their pursuit of fascist ends in order to secure anti-fascist ends, which are not the same as fascist ends.
Pass It On.
