Hopefully of use to all those designing/actioning #30by30 strategies and NBSAPs π€
2024 showed us why immediate action on #climate and nature is essentialπ
It was the hottest year on record. Devastating floods took lives. Blistering heat caused heatstroke and deaths. Wildfires scorched landscapes.
Policymakers need to act ambitiously in 2025π buff.ly/3BIFpfu

Further proof of the synergies between climate and nature emergencies and the importance of interconnected action...
We are thrilled to announce that it has been agreed that #IPBES12 will take place in the United Kingdom, thanks to the UKβs kind offer to host the Plenary.
Thank you to UK Government, we look forward to launching the #BizBiodiversity Report in the UK.

28.11.2024 20:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Our recent analysis highlighted the importance of capacity for management and quality assurance - biodiversity intactness within England's protected areas (incl. National Landscapes) was just 32% in 2020...!
If we are to protect nature for 30by30 and beyond, proper prioritisation is essential.
A Lancet editorial highlights the reality: nature & biodiversity underpin our survival. We must act decisively-75% of emerging diseases stem from disrupted ecosystems. There are ethical/moral arguments for protecting biodiversity. + Nature's health is our health. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

ππ³ Today is Nature Day at #COP29!
π¦ Climate and nature are deeply interconnected. We rely on nature to store our carbon and depend on the climate to safeguard our ecological communities.
ποΈ More action is urgently needed to preserve the nature that we all rely on.

ππ¦₯Where are we at with linking climate change and biodiversity loss?
#COP16 biodiversity summit ended a week before #COP29 climate summit, although you'd be forgiven for forgetting that as it's barely been mentioned here in Baku
But there are some updates worth noting...
The UK Biodiversity Alliance is a partnership of three of the UKβs leading nature organisations - Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; Zoological Society of London; and the Natural History Museum - to chart a science-led path to local solutions and global policy change.
20.11.2024 11:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0β¦ For all those out at Baku for #COP29 or those following remotely, catch up on this morningβs UK Pavilion event organised by the UK Biodiversity Alliance. With a bumper lineup of speakers, we looked at how to accelerate synergistic and solutions-led action.

In a bumper year of all three COPs (climate, biodiversity, desertification) taking place in quick succession, the need for synergistic action across UN Conventions has never been clearer.
We face not solely a climate nor nature emergency, but an interconnected planetary emergencyβ¦
