no, it’s NOT her responsibility to try and control every asshole “fan” who will use her preferences and opinions to police others, BUT as a longtime member of fandoms and as a creator who is wholly aware of her following, I think she could show a bit more tact bc it’s easy to see where this will go.

she should be able to say she doesn’t like something, bc it’s ultimately her work that she shares with us. it doesn’t belong to any fan.

however, IF she is going to continue to be all up in the fandom, she should be subjected to the same rules as anyone else: don’t shit-talk in public! dms exist.

here’s my two cents. multiple things are true.

the creator of a work should, in a perfect world, be able to say “I don’t personally like the way this pairing interprets my characters.”

however, fandom is not a perfect world, bc many people in it lack the maturity to participate responsibly.

i think the days when creators were only barely aware of their creations’ fandoms instead of directly engaging with them were perhaps, how do you say… Better

If you’re in a creative field and you don’t lift up the work of your peers, you can’t expect people to care about your stuff

i've had *officially diagnosed** cptsd for about a decade now and only just recently did i hear someone say the words, "cptsd is a brain injury," which is completely true, i had just not thought about it in terms like that. my brain was injured and it has been forced to adapt ever since.

salem and i are so funny bc our opinions towards socks are on two ends of the sensory spectrum. salem would rather die than wear socks and "trap" their feet and i feel weird if i'm not wearing socks even if my feet are getting hot
