Included this song in an international dance-music style I called The Austral-Romanian Empire (incl. Italy, France, Poland, Puerto Rico, Korea) back in 2012.

Fan of MC Pipokinha; currently thinking about how the Chad Mitchell Trio foreshadow both punk rock and adult contemporary music. The people united will never be defeated. https://koganbot.substack.com https://www.youtube.com/@koganbot

Day 22
DJ Sava ft. Raluka "Money Maker" (Romania 2011)
Bread-and-butter Romanian dance pop. This version wasn't even the hit, but it's the one with added pathos, I can't explain why. Same rhythm as "Mr. Saxobeat" and "D-D Down."

Day 21
The Chainsmokers "#Selfie" (USA 2014)
WHO GOES OUT ON MONDAYS?
We voted this up to 38th place in 2014 Freaky Trigger poll, eliciting a heartfelt reply from Weej: "You can say what you like about Hitler, but at least he isn't responsible for #Selfie."

I have not enough confidence in my knowledge of Anglo-American popular music of the 2010s to go anywhere near to making such judgments. OR: I have such great confidence in my LACK of knowledge of Anglo-American popular music that I unconsciously avoid considering such judgments.

Had no name rec on them so searched my computer and turns out PPP polled "Any Day Now" for 2022, a likable track but I've no memory of voting for or against.
And maybe I'll get to split the Sistar vote, too.
(But 50 isn't very many songs.)
I do highly recommend "& Co" in the "Shame, Shame, Shame" vid.

There was some great country, tho I know country so poorly, I can't say how it compares to other years. This is my favorite. It didn't actually hit until '75, however, when it was re-released on a major label.

Golly! We may end up splitting the Wa$$up vote, too.

It's opulent: the lush, layered synths reaching outwards, textures pitched somewhere between grime's homemade rawness and The-Dream's velvet luxury, a red carpet stretching through space."

Girl Unit "Wut" (UK 2010)

*Frank S. Nugent, reviewing George Raft in Rumba, NY Times, Feb 25, 1935. (Review doesn't detail the happy ending, but a visit to Wikipedia confirms, as one suspected, that the lead character survives and the movie ends happily for him, not the reviewer.)

(The reasons for the threat involving too much backtracking over the story, this corner will merely thank the gangsters.) His partner refuses to go on, but Miss Lombard takes her place, thereby providing the happy ending."*

Day 19
Ninety One "Su Asty" (Kazakhstan 2017)
For a wild moment, Kazakhstan's Ninety One were the bravest band in the world. Here they obliterate K-pop's attempts to be experimental.

I had never heard this particular Lil Pump song and I admire that his response to the exceedingly swift Lil Pump backlash was to try and steer right into the skid

I'm skeptical, but look forward to attempts to persuade.
I'd not known about this.

18.02.2026 16:22 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0*By my definition if they're promoting a song with a real video, which this is (as opposed to a lyric video or an audio video or a visualizer), it's a single (Jan '17 and I put it no. 1 on my 2017 singles list), but discographies don't list this as one, and it was already an album track.

Does Suede have a best-of called Suedest?
(I think I already know the answer to this question.)
I gave it an honorable mention!
17.02.2026 22:33 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Back in Radio On, Chuck Eddy invented "The Line Controversy Rating": I'd already come up with the Controversy Rating, which was the avg deviation from the avg score (TSJ still uses this); what Chuck did was to multiply this by the number of lines or sentences that people wrote about a track.
