It turns out that writing the "Breaking News" section for each chapter is one of the most fun and hopeful aspects of working on this book. There are new technologies that actually make lives better. There are people helping each other.

I get to write about those things.

You know you need a "this is not normal" hat!

If I lived somewhere cold enough to need a toque more than 2 days this winter, I would be ordering one.

(Not affiliated with Island Yarn, but they were my neighborhood yarn store where I used to live and they're awesome)

A reminder that I'm closed to adult fantasy and sci-fi queries at the moment. Please don't just pick an unrelated genre on QM; wait until I reopen in these genres!

(If I have your sci-fi or fantasy full ms, that's a different story and it's still under consideration! 😎)

Ghoulish Books will remain open today as a community space.

We stand in support of the General Strike. People may make book purchases, but no pressure.

We will be donating 100% of the day’s profits (or, if not reached, a minimum of $500) to organizations benefiting Minnesota.

And, as a reminder, β€œAbolish ICE” is the moderate position here. They deserve so, so much worse. We must not rest until every evil motherfucker involved has been catapulted into the sun.

Justice as a measure of energy transition success - Nature Energy Energy justice has shifted from the margins to become a central aspect of energy transitions research, argues Destenie Nock.

We keep calling the energy transition a success because grids are cleaner and cheaper. But averages hide who’s getting shut off, who’s rationing heat, and who’s trading safety for affordability. Justice isn’t a bonus metric...it’s THE metric. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Climate change was settled science decades ago.

The failure was political.

Climate Denial in American Politics: #ClimateBrawl documents how climate denial became embedded in U.S. federal politicsβ€”and how it continues to obstruct climate action.
