Charismatic local candidate in touch with her voters beats a soft-handed grifter and another candidate who seems decent but is trapped in a directionless party machine.

My guess is that most voters are pretty sceptical of claims about other parties' policies generally. I don't think these scare stories cut through much at all - even when they're true and they need to (eg about Reform's agenda)

Some of our policies are forgotten clutter that needs a good sort through - I think we need an extraordinary conference or something.
The drugs policy though is based on proven best practice for harm reduction.
