There are some, but nowhere near enough to suddenly have the CPC ahead of the BQ by 17 points in a poll that's otherwise brutal for the Tories, especially since no other polls (including other recent EKOS) show this sort of movement.

The NDP (let alone the PPC, the GPC, and the microparties) are currently too weak to overcome FPTP's natural bias against minor parties, and the LPC and the BQ have much more efficient vote distributions than the CPC does. Landslides in rural Ontario and Western Canada don't win you extra seats.

Yes. I'm convinced that the voting patterns that exist today strongly favour the LPC and the BQ relative to pretty much everyone else.

Québec is weird because of the lack of Liberal-Tory marginals. The federalist-sovereigntist axis has turned a lot of affluent Anglophone suburbs and urban enclaves that would be Liberal-Tory marginals if they were in the suburban parts of the 905 or Greater Vancouver into Liberal strongholds.

Alberta actually matters very little in FPTP because it has few competitive ridings.

This has the result of weakening the pool of prospective non-conservative candidates relative to a proportional system and reinforcing alienation by leaving Alberta underrepresented in centre-left governments.

This characteristic results in our political discourse being centred around the values and interests of the affluent suburbs that swing between the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party and is one of the reasons that we direly need electoral reform.

I think Jeff's right here. Seats that are more competitive are more important because the voters there decide elections.

I'm pretty sure that the BQ and the CPC numbers were transposed at some point prior to publication. The QC regional numbers in this breakdown aren't plausible.

I don't consider members of US-based Evangelical sects to be real Quebecers or real Canadians.

I'm pretty certain they've inverted the CPC and BQ numbers in their Québec regionals.

32 CPC and 15 BQ aren't plausible.
