We are very excited to share a new resource from our team: spatial subcellular proteome maps in plants! We developed an MS-based method that registers localizations of about 8000 proteins in Arabidopsis roots in a single experiment.

CLCC1 governs ER bilayer equilibration to maintain lipid homeostasis - Nature Phospholipid scrambling at the endoplasmic reticulum is essential for establishing a dynamic equilibrium to maintain cellular homeostasis.

Excited to share what we uncovered using in-tissue cryo-ET in mouse liver: a structural snapshot of lipid droplet biogenesis in situ. Timely reading—particularly after a lipid-rich Chinese New Year😂 The lipid homeostasis story governed by CLCC1 with more details here: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Maybe so but I very much doubt that it helps you getting the grant. Paying external consultants for ERC grant applications is a fool's errant.

For ERCs I would doubt that. For other parts of the portfolio it is certainly true.

29 minutes from stepping out of the door at home to the gate at Dresden airport. Must be a record. Side note (i): Record was set between 4:35 and 5:04 local time. Side note (ii): No, our airport is not profitable. 🤪 On my way to #BPS2026 in San Francisco & looking forward to meeting everybody!

As the President of the Beer Committee (yes...), I have moved the quest to #MakeBeerHourGreatAgain to the next level. By executive order, the #CzechPolka "Roll Out the Barrels" becomes the official beer #anthem. #Starobrnobitter Lots of foam, room for improvement. But it went fast... ❤️ @mpi-cbg.de

The origin of life wasn't fat-free James Sáenz studies how fatty molecules might have helped life get started

Lipids are kind of the ignored middle children of origins of life research. It's time they got a bit of attention, too!

This week's post is a Q&A with geoscientist-turned-??? (interdisciplinary folks know the struggle) @jamessaenz.bsky.social about why there's no cutting the fat from origins. 🧪

During #NeuronalDifferentiation, #organelles dramatically reorganize. #Microtubules are essential tracks for transport. But are they just highways, or can they instruct organelle behavior? Are tubulin modifications a regulatory code that guides organelle position or function? 1/9
