You could easily think W.J.T Mitchell was a script advisor, I loved it lots of β€˜false remembering’ and cultural decay, and it’s set where I’m from which was interesting.

28 Years Later is really on the money, worth a look, I can see you covered in iodine building scull towers in a few years (that’s a compliment if you see the movie)

Coincidentally I just recommended this to @mirabelledomine.bsky.social and @lukeewalker.bsky.social in relation to their exciting film project that mixes English landscape, visionary experience, and madness with religious themes strange that it gets so little attention.

A lot of people have asked about the little figure on the table, its an image of an octopus on a horse, after a Japanese netsuke-type figurine, I saw one as a child and it stuck with me as an absurd image, its large head out of place, a bit like Gawain throughout the poem.

This was a spellbinding performance, I was lost in the world evoked by Daisy, who can also sing!

3/3: ...complex subjectivity in the name of a simple action based, and often hyper masculine mindset: Gawain's discernment, his failure, and knowledge of it, is one way to resist and celebrate another path which makes this figure highly relevant to our cultural moment.

2/3: ...than Gawain, who through his trial with Green Knight and his encounters with Lady Bertilak is provided with a condition in the present, rather than the iconic heroic status he clings too. There is a disturbing modern fashion for attacks on...

1/3: Delivering the keynote @themamoconf.bsky.social 2025 has been a wonderful (if daunting) highlight of my research activity, the painting below was made as a response to the invitation, it and the plenary were attempts to understand the women of the poem as more temporally complex figures...

Hi Laura, thank you, I'm glad you like this work, the project involves a contested space with links to the medieval (of course) among other things, it can be seen here where I archive new images www.instagram.com/eerie__weird...

My article Alien: Romulus and the Problematic Saviour is published in the iconic Foundation Journal, 150, 54.1 (spring 2025). This continues my interest in the potent, and influential, aesthetics of the Alien franchise.

So far their version of book burnings is dismantling government departments, and publicly alienating allies, I do wonder how the mass that loves him will recreate the behaviour.

…even bad taste is better then being constantly a victim of market forces and fashions, that run through you in their image wiping you clean each time (the ever changing front of the Duckworth’s house in Coronation St./the shock troopers of Thatcher etc,).

Really interesting implications for those, who having acquired funds, are yet unable to do this manoeuvre, a tell tale sign is an obsession with cleaning without ’taste’ you can only discern between dirty and clean…
