Ask Bob about Billy Idol in the commercials they always show during the PGA golf coverage. He's hilarious! I don't even know what they're selling...some office efficiency service.

I posted on the Land of the Lost FB page that anyone who puts Brigitte Calls Me Baby, Suki Waterhouse and Of Monsters and Men on her show is fine with me. Let's recruit @kellyclarksontv.bsky.social to join @wxpnfm.bsky.social .

Thanks so much for your moving tribute to Dan. I knew him only via social media, but worked with his dad, Drew, for almost 30 years. I loved Dan's writing and his love of life! He'll surely be missed!
A few weeks ago, I dove into the rabbit hole of "Sunday Morning Coming Down" in search of covers by women, and I learned Ray Stevens, in 1969, predated the Kristofferson version by a year or so. He's more than "Guitarzan." Give it up for Ray!
#XPNcountdown #RayStevens
It's easy to overlook, but Ray Stevens ("Guitarzan" guy) had the first recorded version of "Sunday Morning Coming Down," in 1969. Kristofferson was late to the game. Probably my only quibble with the countdown.

For someone whose age begins with a 7, I find it a great brain game to figure out the song before I learn it via the playlist or the radio host: "I *know* that song!"
#XPNCountdown.
Not a voter, but if I can influence some: Wallace, Omar and Stringer.

From my fingertips to John Batiste's scroll ... I can surely imagine him covering this song.
Let's put it out in the universe.

"And when he died, all he left us was alone." OMG. Probably in my top 20 lines ever.
Yo, @kimrichey.bsky.social ! I stopped dead in my tracks! Haven't heard @wxpnfm.bsky.social play you in faaaar toooo lonnnng. Yay for today!

Faces. Modern English. You could do a whole #FridayMorningMixtape of songs used in commercials. I think Jardiance might be the only original song in ads anymore, haha!

OMG, this song!

Every time I hear Portishead, I think of the TV show "La Femme Nikita," yet, interestingly, their music was never played on that show.

If there's one song that I'm surprised that @wxpnfm.bsky.social has never played, it's probably "Diamonds" by @johnnyswim.bsky.social. They have a few plays in the teens, but this song is special!

Six degrees of @wxpnfm.bsky.social and @worldcafe.bsky.social ... If only Dan could talk with his friend Connor, who could talk to his pal Jason, who could talk to his bro Travis, who could talk to his sweetie Taylor, who could talk to @rahrahraina.bsky.social or @kallao.bsky.social ...
16.08.2025 11:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh, no, I'm not saying stop. I LOVE Brigitte Calls Me Baby, boygenius and others, but if they played them a bit less, they could fit in "classics." I love new stuff. By example, Mary Chapin Carpenter used to be a staple, yet Sleepy Hollow is the only place I've heard her new record. Pic=my fridge.
14.08.2025 13:35 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0We saw them probably 4-5 times at the Tin Angel. I have a friend from Australia I met online and she came to visit once and it happened to coincide with one of the shows. They have international acclaim and deserve to be played, still.

14.08.2025 12:50 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I don't see why we can't have this all the time. Maybe we don't need to hear the same song or two by the new kids several times a day, and, believe me, I love a lot of the new kids. Remember Grey Eye Glances? #TBTXPN
14.08.2025 12:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I have only one album by them. It was after a World Cafe appearance; it's called "In Seed Comes Fruit." 2003

OMG! This is such an underrated album! Thanks for playing something from it. Don't like Travis Tritt's politics, but he's phenomenal with Patti Labelle.
Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

Maybe it's my poison ivy-fueled haze, but how about a mixtape on infidelity? A friend jokes he should have guessed his marriage might not last when the last song at the reception was "Me and Mrs. Jones."
"One Way Out." "It's My Party." "If Loving You Is Wrong..."
