Maggie Gyllenhaal’s gonzo Frankenstein riff The Bride! is ferociously alive βˆ’ it’s allliiiiiive! The Bride! is the kind of big-budget swing that everybody in Hollywood secretly wishes that they could make

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s THE BRIDE! is just the kind of extravagant swing that will baffle David Ellison, so best to lick it all up now. I’m confident Peter Boyle would’ve loved it. www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...

Season 5 of INDUSTRY should be vaguely about Paramount.

02.03.2026 04:43 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh yeah, I’m not excusing Paramount here. It’s just that any company (or writer) expects to wring sympathy out of this deal, or the lack of a deal. I have no room for that.

Shaw’s reporting feels as if it has long been calibrated in Netflix’s corner. And the sympathetic opening suggests that Netflix’s team knew it would encounter such sentiment. But I’m eager to see how many more interviews will be proffered.

Paramount’s Warner Bros. deal is a full-blown Hollywood inferno Viewers may find fewer choices - and fewer independent voices - on their screens if Paramount buys Warner Bros. Discovery

If the Netflix deal to swallow Warner Bros. felt like a five-alarm fire for the film industry, then the Paramount acquisition is a full-blown Hollywood inferno. If now isn't the time to panic, then when? www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...

In Toronto, actor Sung Kang revs up his own fast, if not quite so furious, future Kang’s forthcoming directorial debut, Drifter, isn’t designed as a Fast & Furious knockoff, but a grittier, more intimate story

Canadian movies are tanking at the box office, but there’s a twist that could save our cinema If Canada want to support its filmmakers, it needs to stop treating promotional efforts as an afterthought
