My Christmas present to myself this year is a pair of Garstangs, went to their store in Manchester the other month and Iโm totally sold.

I enjoy pints of cask ale, crosswords and the darts. Oh, and I occasionally write a blog. https://www.notmyfirstdraught.co.uk/

17.08.2025 15:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This last weekend I spent in Sheffield for the Abbeydale Road Beer Festival. My lord I wish I remembered more of it. Getting the print home in one piece was harder than I first thought.
06.08.2025 12:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Those who still work behind the bar, what are your thoughts on patrons who will order their pint and linger for a bit of small talk?
Iโll admit Iโm a serial offender, (mind you Iโm cautious of other customers) but I do think that without this it just feels too.. transactional?
A half-drunk pint of beer next to a sausage roll with a piece taken out.
Following the namesake of this beer โGo on thenโ and treating myself to a sausage roll. Positively sweltering but the staff are class and the drinks going down nicely!

A ยฃ2.29 pint of Jaipur at Spoons before my journey back to Sheffield. A few pubs that Iโve got too long without (looking at you Rutty and Shakeyโs) and of course Sheffield Wine Week in Bole Hill. Cannot wait!

28.03.2025 08:33 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Itโs not a common thought for a 21-year-old but Iโm dying to get a hold of some Foxwhelp. I want to get either apples or juice now so I can age it whilst I grow old. Who knows where cider will be in 20+ years.
22.03.2025 23:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0When in Rome? When in Sheffield. Of course Iโm in the old shoe today, have a few beers but but Elusive Brewingโs American Red stood out. No photos, but I do love coming back here.

Chilling out at the Wonky Labrador this afternoon/evening. Hidden gem in Sheffield, cosy little craft beer micro bar - I import you to visit! Mac and his team always make you feel so welcome itโs a cracking place.
And they do a doggy paddle!
Iโm paying ยฃ80 a week at the moment as my instructor only does double lessons. Never be so glad to have my test.

Going to my first beer festival since Indie Beer Feast in 2024 - soloing it this time but really excited! Canโt wait to try some cracking beer. Particularly excited for 1838 by @thornbridge.bsky.social as Iโve not had a chance to try any of the burton union beers yet since moving home!
01.03.2025 13:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I had planned to make a piece of this but ended up getting dead caught up with things over Christmas. Particular favourites of the line up in no particular order were: Old Peculier, Broadside, Otter Ale, White Rat, and Hop Father. All absolutely amazing.
