Fantastic event last night. We played "So You want to Be an American" - a board game about the US Citizen process - with game designer and educator Cody Pietro, who presented the game and facilitated 6 tables!
Find the game here: www.createducation.com/store
If you're around Middletown, CT on Wednesday, come by to Exley at 4:30 pm!
We will present and play an award winning educational game with the creator, Cody Pietro!
"So You Want to Be an American" is a game about the US citizenship process and its many woes.
Watching "The American Revolution" by Ken Burns, on @PBS.
There is something so comforting and delightful about Burns' series; they are so well documented, well edited, and informative.
This one is also a good reminder about the founding principles of this country.

Oof this was a good and depressing read. We do see some of that (along with lack of understanding of grammar structures) in college.
15.11.2025 16:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ha ha fair enough! If it weren't for the reading group, I wouldn't read as many ha ha. It's fun to sometimes diss a bad book π
But there are some gems hidden in the romantasy genre! And the genre does a lot to get young readers into myth and mythology ππ»
And @jenkatwrites.bsky.social if you ever want to talk romantasy, I'm your gal. Currently reading the Godkiller series (which is actually well-written! Which is not to a given in this genre π )
15.11.2025 02:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Omg. Sharing right now with my romantasy mad magical reading group! π Thank you.
15.11.2025 02:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am so waiting for your take on Austen!!! Or any other works of literature you enjoy. I am here to give feedback at any stage my friend. β€οΈ
15.11.2025 02:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I also agree. It's my favorite from @planesailinggames.com so far! π
15.11.2025 02:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I want more recommendations on games that tackle literary works in interesting ways!
15.11.2025 02:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Like this really great take on Dante's Inferno by Lorenzo Trenti, which keeps the structure of Hell and asks players to fill it with new content and play as the Guide, the Wanderer, and the Damned one. (I will translate it and share, I promise!)

This. Thanks for the lobby chats, as always. β€οΈ Excellent thread and I want more games, and particularly TTRPGs, looking at how we can play through literature. Looking at books and series as systems and structures. So much potential.
15.11.2025 02:17 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I'll share some thoughts when I try it!
13.11.2025 23:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This just arrived!
Excited to get into it during my Winter break. π
Thank you @backwardsttrpg.bsky.social
It will go to retail, so you can grab it there even without shipping costs π

This looks great <3
Thanks @senfoonglim.bsky.social for the recommendation!
Intermission to highlight a great Viognier/Vermentino/Chardonnay White blend from Lebanon (pic. 1), a phenomenal Ripasso red from Valpolicella (pic. 2), and a smoky delightful amaro from Trento (pic. 3).
Drinks like these make life so much better.

Thank you, Metatopia. Superb game Playtest, delightful humans, great chats.
I'll post soon about the TTRPGs I tried with some thoughts. But first a big thank you to @avonelle.bsky.social and the Metatopia team for a great event!
See you next year!

Looking to connect with people who are writing games on oppression and resistance in any form for a new podcast project with @senfoonglim.bsky.social releasing in 2026.
Send me a message or find me at the Lobbycon at the hotel on Saturday night!
#metatopia2025
I don't even need to tell you.
Go take a look! :)
Well done @megueyb.bsky.social and @lumpley.bsky.social
Also proud of Durham, CT, where I actually live and vote - a small and very purple town, which turned pretty blue this fall.
Well done to Durham CT Democrats for a truly well-run campaign.

Is this... Hope? It is.
It feels so damn good.
Thank you Mamdani for energizing even Gen Z voters. β€οΈπ½
This is much nicer than what I would say, but it's a good reminder about Cheney.
I hope he can find the afterlife that he deserves.

Are you going to have a booth?
04.11.2025 09:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Haha sorry for the confusion! I have a quick document with descriptions of each game - happy to share if that's of interest! π
But yes to dog samurai as a concept!
... the games I will not get to try, so that I can revisit them later and/or try to contact authors.
I am looking forward to playtesting all of these games - thanks to all the designers, many of whom first-timers, for such interesting options! π
