I love designing worlds in a way that makes people be excited about them, wanting to know more, and be happy that I can share my creativity with them. That's the point, to me, about creative writing.

Shad should've just made his personal wiki about his hyper-fixations. /end thread

03.03.2026 14:05 β€” πŸ‘ 11    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Shad's book reveals how INSULATED he is from the entire world; he can't really character his world-building outside of character exposition/lore-dumps, because he doesn't know HOW to relate his own creativity to everybody else.

It's excessively expository, because it's self-centred.

03.03.2026 14:05 β€” πŸ‘ 13    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Part of great world-building, as Ant hints towards, is characterisation; through civilisations, characters, militaries, environments, and so on and so forth. You further diversify that with individual lived experiences on the macro and micro level.

Shad, obviously, doesn't do any of this.

03.03.2026 14:01 β€” πŸ‘ 14    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Shad, as a world-designer, has seemingly these few hyperfixations that he stretched into an entire setting. But because they are so idiosyncratic and limited, it's an ouroborous; Shad can't go past himself and his experiences, and thus expand his own setting.

The best thing about researching our world for your own writing is how much it enriches your perspective on the world, and your own writing. Good fantasy worlds are made by people who are genuinely curious about our own world.

Shad possesses no such curiosity.

I haven't finished Ant's video on Shad's book yet, but from what I've gathered, it's astonishing how fucking SINGULARLY-MINDED Shad is in world-building/-designing. It's all so... almost obscenely monocultural, and disinterested in deepening the shallow pond created.

03.03.2026 13:57 β€” πŸ‘ 11    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

For me, a good fantasy setting is a relatable, compelling reflection to our real world; messy, complex, ancient, and critically, diverse in peoples and their perspectives.

Good fantasy worlds should feel like our real world - boundless in its volume of stories, and the people that tell them.

Because I feel like it, short-ish thread incoming! Ant's video pertains to my interests because I'm a fantasy writer who's *primarily* a world-builder and -designer. Crafting worlds has always been my critical focus.

So, in a way, Shad is my peer. And it's outstanding how bad he is at it.

Commissioned drawing of a magical capybara. Part of the body is made of gold, glass, and moss. There's summoned vines and a water barrier surrounding the creature.

And lastly; for a Coghead to be born, enough Cogitix must coalesce in its material and magical volume for a Coghead to be born! /end thread

03.03.2026 12:54 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And before you ask; no, Cogheads can't really be resurrected. But ALL future Cogheads will have their personality traits and lives fundamentally impacted by the Living Library from which they were born.

03.03.2026 12:54 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

While all Cogheads are as individual as any other persons of their people can be, all Cogheads come from Mount Cogitus, the intermediate good being their collective memory that is vividly and starkly preserved not just for themselves, but for the world.

03.03.2026 12:53 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

For Cogheads, Mount Cogitus is a Living Library of many moments; it's where they were born, it's where they remember their enslavement, it's where they remember the final days of the empire occupying the Orchana mountains.

It's also their final resting place.

03.03.2026 12:52 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Living Libraries are world wonders in my setting; it's where epochal moments of such severity occur, the individuals experiencing/enacting them leave behind residuals of their souls that keep re-enacting said moments.

03.03.2026 12:51 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mount Cogitus is the only mountain - which is also the tallest peak of the range - where Cogitix isn't mined. That is because within that very mountain, Cogheads come to be.

But it's also where Cogheads go back to pass away.

03.03.2026 12:51 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But now... back to the Cogheads. 😈As they *do* come from an intermediate good.

That intermediate good being... a Living Library, which is also Mount Cogitus.

03.03.2026 12:50 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mined Cogitix is smelted into different shapes, and combined with different acids, alloys, and other materials to create all those scalpels, mining drills, rifles, siege machines, and so on and so forth!

03.03.2026 12:49 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is done within the Commune's manufactories, which are quite unrivalled within my setting in their capacity of processing and production.

Pretty much every manufactory is constructed in a way where *all* intermediate goods can be worked with.

03.03.2026 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The Orchana Commune creates a variety of Cogitix products. As such, mined Cogitix is processed into a multitude of intermediate goods dependant on *what* will be the final product.

03.03.2026 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So, #Marchistics! I'm going to be discussing two intermediate products in a thread below; intermediate goods of Cogitix products, and... the Orchana Commune's Living Library πŸ˜ˆπŸ”½

Mechsuits (painted some πŸ”½). The Alliance stretches a supply-chain or net for these accross it's galactic quadrant (from Core to Blue abyss). These are usually atmospheric sealed and actuated. Have their own energy supply. And are average sapient-sized. They are used in space and hazard environments.
