University leaders must actively and very publicly make the case for the kind of work many of us do. The silence on this front is deafening.

Requiring drafts without any explication of the concept of drafting (or pre-writing, process vs product, and the recursive nature of writing) is what leads to these sorts of student shenanigans and workarounds. It reinforces to students that turning in the work/completing the assignment = writing.

Anyone else helping parents/elders transition away from facebook? Learning a brand-new social media literacy ain’t easy even for folks who are comfortable with “new” tech (🙋♀️) so I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to teach an old dog new tricks.
