Had a crazy nightmare: Henry Gyrich became President, William Stryker was his Secretary of Defense, and Stryker’s Purifiers were given an official government role: The capture and removal of all mutants from American soil.

But only the bad ones. The worst of the worst.

As her eyes lifted to meet his, he found himself momentarily transfixed. The world around him seemed to fade into a distant blur; inconsequential static when measured against her gaze. He smiled.

“My name is Everett. What’s yours?”

In Chris Claremont’s 1982 graphic novel 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘒𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴, Reverend Stryker uses biblical passages to justify the persecution and murder of mutants. Claremont’s story used the mutant plight as an allegory for issues of racism and discrimination that are still relevant today. #xmen
